You forgot that it will also have the Audi inspired e-handbrake.

I'm sure I put one of those hoods on my car in Need for Speed Underground 2....that was almost 20 years ago....when I was a kid

Says a lot about the current design language....maybe they've had too many "bring your kid to work" days in the BMW design offices

New Mercs also come with an inline 6, RWD/AWD Vehicle architecture and an available sedan form factor. Does that make them BMW's?

When the design language is all you have left to differentiate yourself from rivals it makes sense not to annihilate decades old iconic design elements that people have come to associate with the brand. No hoffmeister kink is a deal breaker, and to make matters worse the 'reinterpreted kink' now looks like this

No, it just means they are trying even harder now to emulate the de-facto segment leader, BMW. Or maybe you’d prefer BMW switch to a V6? You know, to better differentiate their product.

Incidentally, you sound like the curve flattening has you a bit on edge. Maybe go for a nice long walk? I’m sorry you didn’t like my answer to your troll-ish Audi quip, but you asked so I answered.

There’s something to be said for tradition.

That said, when you are calling the lack of a specific geometric figure on the rear window the reason why you’ll avoid what will likely once again the best vehicle in the class, I think it’s pretty safe to conclude your priorities are wildly out of sync with the rest of the folks who are waiting for this car. Maybe the designers decided not to put it there because today’s buyer simply doesn’t care?

BMW: Now, one last question: on this 500hp AWD performance machine we’re building, what are your thoughts about a Hoffmeister kink?

Target audience: What now? Is that German porno?

Good news though. Mercedes might be switching to an I4 hybrid setup for the next AMG C Class flagship. So you can vote with your wallet and differentiate yourself. And hey, maybe there’s still time to convince them to put the bent window thingy on that cherry four banger?

Sound answer, but also just makes u (BMW) sound and look like a sell out. Anyway, go on do ur thing. All those young, progressive kids influencing ur style choices r about to have so much money and all w all those jobs they're about to lose thanks to the comin global recession ... people respect brands that stick to their tradition and identity. U just look like another Japanese wanna be with answers like that. Reason #437 why people continue to say they're moving to Porsche. Get over yourselves, it's a stinking car. A car that now just looks like every other car on the road. This lack of creativity in design studios these days is astounding.

PS - yet to be proven best vehicle in its class, quite presumptuous of you.

Oof. You're all over the place here. Let's see if we can do some triage on this jumbled up mess of incorrect assumptions and misplaced hostility.

I am not BMW. You're not BMW either, right? We're people on the internet. If you want BMW, I'd suggest here:

http://www.bmwusa.com/
http://bmw.com

This is Bimmerpost. We're enthusiasts, and we give our opinions. Yeah. Just like that. Like you do and the rest of the members here.

Got it now, friend? I think that should help calm your anxiety over there. Oh, and like I told the other guy - make sure you get outside and take a walk. It helps. It really does.

Speaking about being influenced by "young, progressive kids", did you learn your vocab and sentence structure from pre-teen YouTube influencers? You're making a heck of a lot more work for people to absorb WTF you are trying to convey because your post is bit of a hot mess. You can do better.

Another quick exercise for you too: Say the bolded phrase to yourself in the mirror three times. Deep breaths, bro.

It's not proven, that's right. But it is probable because it has been the case before. That's why I said it was likely, but I absolutely didn't say it was guaranteed nor "proven".

While not my usual MO, sometimes it feels better to express frustration with an incoherent rant ... still disappointed w the direction and even more disappointed w all the energy and attempts BMW (whomever "they" are) expels to try and rationalize what they're doing.
