Share your G20 build
The BMW G20 330 and M340 have a lot of options to choose from. How did you configure your vehicle?
What did you guys consider when deciding your package options? Common Guide: 1)Budget 2)Powerplant 4 cylinder vs 6 inline cylinder (Economy vs Performance) 3)Paint colour & interior colour (Loud, unique or conservative colours) 4)Performance options(Brakes, Suspension, LSD, extra cooling) 5)Convenience and comfort options (Seating, ACC, sound, automatic settings, remote etc..) 6)Esthetic options (Headlights and Shadowline/Satin finish) 7)Wheels and Tires (Style and type of tires) 8)Accessories: M-Performance parts |

I started from "must have" perspective... what I would be happy to drive. I set a limit price that I'm comfortable with and stated configuring. if I wasn't able to get what I wanted at the price I can afford I was going to look at another car.
I picked m340i after 3 test drives. Purely from driving enjoyment reasons. For features, Driver assistance and active m suspension were big differentiators for me. Apart from that I got my all other must haves. Color was purely a taste matter. I was OK to change color if it was too expensive. I debated a lot about exec package. If the US version of Laser lights were not limited, I would get them. I ended up adding parking plus and power tail gate and skipped exec package all together. I ended up getting a price below what I wanted (a rare thing, I know). Since I had some budget left, I added some other bells and whistles.

personally I don't really care for most of the driver aids, or heads up display etc. I tested both the h&k audio and normal audio with how I normally play my music (bluetooth) at the volume I use it , and the normal audio seemed fine.
I wanted rwd. So I ended up with a m340i rwd. Its got quite a bit on it with no options as it is. I got the nicer wheels, got rid of the runflats since I figure if I'm going to buy a $50-60k car it might as well ride decently . I got ambient lighting because well driving around inside of TRON would be nice. Got the 340i since I've always wanted to own an inline 6 (never had one, have driven mostly 4 cylinder cars). Got tanzanite blue because I love blue, and dont want to be just another white / gray / black shade of gray G20 in los angeles. I got sensatec because I wear clothes and can't tell the difference between leather and pleather and put 0 effort into cleaning leather in every car i've had. And I got the 360 camera parking package because even though it was $900 , I never want to scrape a wheel or front bumper on anything ever again. And even though I rarely use heated seats I got heated seats because I figured looking at a blank button spot on my center console would bother me. So my build. m340i RWD tanzanite blue heated seats parking assistance ambient lighting 19" non runflats + spare sensatec and aluminum mesh I'd guess this is a pretty stripped down build, but yeah its what I ordered. |

I bought most al, packages as I decided to treat myself to a b’day gift. I didn’t buy parking package. I park well, no heated rear seats, or track package. I drive 100 miles a day round trip so run flats a must until I retire. As I live in car decided on H/K radio and 19 inch stager as I like to carve canyons, don’t car about straight line speed. Had no idea what car was like until delivery. When I test drove I know I made right decision. I get great fuel economy due to the distance I drive daily in eco mode. |

I got mine off the lot and will do a custom build next time if I can't get the exact options I want. Mine is AP with premium pack, leather with ambient lighting and 19" run flat all seasons with the driver assistance pack. The two biggest regrets are the all seasons non staggered tires and the AP color. I will not do white again. Daily commute is about 40 miles round trip and the car is quite comfortable, no complaints even on the run flats.
At first I was going to get the 330i M S port but then all my prior BMW's except the E36 had an in-line 6. Also, before I always opt for the smaller motor and regretted the performance so I decided on an M340i which is a better bargain than a 330i M sport, considering what you get for the money. A 330i optioned like my car would have M sport with the track handling pack. Which would be high 50's without the bigger motor yet having an msrp close to a base M340i. My car's MSRP was a hair over 60K.

I ended up building a 330i alpine white sport line, cognac leather, conv package, hk audio, remote start, and power tailgate. I did the performance delivery, which was amazing btw. I regret nothing.
I read and watched a ton of reviews before making a decision and used this forum as a guide. This forum actually helped me find a good dealer and I got a way better price. Most the reviews I watched said that the m340i wasnt worth the added price increase over the 330i. Not trying to start an argument, that is just what I read. If I had the money I would have got the m340i, because while doesnt want more power!? |

G20 Build
I've just placed a order for a 2020 330i (North American build), I was just told by my dealer that a chassis number would be available sometime by 1 Feb.
My question is when ordering a build, what are the steps until I get it delivered at BMW Spartanburg? I've owned several 3 and 5 series cars, this is my first "build"... so I'm a little anxious!

I was on the lookout for a new car to replace my wifeÂ’s old E90 BMW 3. I drive an Audi A6 myself but will shift that car to my wife and ordered myself a new BMW 3 G20.
1) Budget was about 60k, ordered mine for about 64k (euro) 2) 330e because of tax deductions for plug-in hybrid cars here in Belgium 3) Tanzanite Blue II, Merino Tartufo leather 4) M sport pack, no special performance additions 5) Basically all options and packs we could select (Business Pack Plus, Innovation Package, comfort pack, sunroof, etc.) 6) Default Shadow line that comes with M Sport, Laserlight headlights 7) Default 18 inch tires of the M Sport pack, for comfort reasons Still hesitating to get the Drive Recorder option. DonÂ’t know if it will be very useful. I need to decide on the final interior trim, either: - Aluminium with mesh effect - fine-wood trim oak grain open-pored Mind is currently set on the oak open pored. Wondering if it fits well with the Tartufo leather.. (wife does not like glossy black) |

I just ordered my car today. I couldn’t be more excited. I really wanted the m340 xdrive, but as I am also saving for a wedding I went with the 330i xdrive. Production is supposed to start in a little over a week.
I really wanted the performance of the m340, but it just didn’t make sense with my budget. However, I will say that I definitely did make the most of my 330i build. It’s alpine white with mocha leather and oak trim, extended shadowline, track handling package, msport, premium, hk sound, 19” jet black 791m wheels, park distance control, black m performance rear spoiler, and the m performance exhaust. I left the dealership without ordering the m performance parts and was still left wishing I could afford the m340, but then it hit me. I called my dealer and ordered the exhaust and spoiler. I think the car is going to look and sound amazing. I think I came to the perfect compromise. |

1)Budget: MSRP for my build came out to $69k
2)Powerplant 4 cylinder vs 6 inline cylinder (Economy vs Performance): Went with the M340i... so I6 3)Paint colour & interior colour (Loud, unique or conservative colours): Went unique I guess... dravit grey with mocha interior 4)Performance options(Brakes, Suspension, LSD, extra cooling): Didn't add any but wishing I had added the adaptive suspension 5)Convenience and comfort options (Seating, ACC, sound, automatic settings, remote etc..) Went with all available convenience options in the US 6)Esthetic options (Headlights and Shadowline/Satin finish): Open pore oak grain wood 7)Wheels and Tires (Style and type of tires): Went with all season runflats 791M. But after realizing it was a box setup, wishing I had gone with a staggered setup instead. 8)Accessories: M-Performance parts: None

The wait has begun...
I think I ticked most boxes except runflat and glass roof. Connected, Innovation, Comfort, Winter, Adaptive, HK. Feels extra special after driving a gifted E46 318i for a year and a half due to quitting my job and starting a new company |
