When my lease is up in early 21 this is my next car! I know my current 340 with the power kit does about 0-60 in 4.3/4.4, but I'm looking forward to the M differential, and lower ride hide with xdrive.

I actually think that long die hard BMW fans are the ones who do most of the complaint. newcomers are the ones buying whatever has a bayerische badge and smiling without minding if the car looks has no relation whatsoever to BMW´s design history

Yep, precisely.

Also, BMW has never been about a straight line 0-60 performance only. FNG's don't get that and cite 4 seconds this 400HP that foaming at their mouths. If I wanted a straight line automatic-only performance I would have never bought my first BMW 15 years ago and others thereafter.

Completely agree. The tips on the Msport are Lexus, and look hideous. Hopefully there's an option for circlular tips - like the ones on the 330. Those seem to be 4 inchers.

Gets even worse with the M340i. If you compare the tail lights and the exhaust tips (which are definitely Lexus) - there is more than a passing resemblance to Lexus. Not good IMO.

Me too. 2011 335i with factory PPK. Let's see how this 340i drives - the numbers are staggering, and from reviews looks like they dialed teh sport back in. Curious about steering feel though - will have to drive one as soon as it's on the lots.

Excuse me but my last 4 BMWs in the last 10 years: E90 328i (euro delivery), E92 335is, F30 335i, F30 340i. I don't know what qualifies someone to be an "enthusiast" besides being a snob to other people for not meeting your arbitrary metrics You don't hold the monopoly on who qualifies to be a BMW fan, which I certainly am.

Why does the fact that I lease matters? I don't like driving outdated cars. I don't want to worry about the car breaking and wasting my time with repairs. To BMW, a sale is a sale, whether purchasing outright, financing, leasing, etc. And no, I don't mod my cars.

BMW certainly cares more about my opinion, a reliable repeat customer, than someone who drives an Infiniti and complains online here about a manual transmission not being offered.

You're absolutely right.

I had the leasing debate with my wife years ago when we bought her a new car. She wanted to pay cash. I wanted to lease. For some reason, I agreed. I sold $30,000 worth of stock, and we paid cash for it.

Today, that stock would be worth $120,000. MOST EXPENSIVE SUBARU OUTBACK EVER!

I totally agree with you. I will never buy or pay cash for a car again.
