330e charging outside of specified times issue

Anyone else having the issue above,I’m using the granny lead with the car,so when I get home from work as I won’t be using the car until the next day I always plug it in,to save me going out again to do it,or forgetting. My trip to work depending on the route I take,a round trip usually leaves me with about 1-5% of the battery remaining when I get home. We have a dual rate tariff and the car is told to charge between 01:00 to 08:00 to take advantage of the (much) cheaper rate.

However what I’ve only just noticed is regardless of the charge in time slot setting being on,when I plug the car in it immediately begins to charge, until the battery reaches 12%, then pauses and resumes again at 01:00 like it’s supposed to,which is a bit of an issue as I don’t want to pay the expensive unit price during the day(even just to get it to 12%!)

Is anyone else’s 330e doing the same?

Yep. mine does the same. Charges to 12% and then pauses until the cheaper rate starts.
Seems to charge up to 12% pretty quick though, like less than 30 mins, so in reality is costing very little.
(still cheaper than petrol)

EDIT: just checked recent notifications. Took 16 mins to get to 12% this afternoon. Now sat in paused state until 00:30. So don't think its going to break the bank. Don't know what % it was on for sure, but range definitely showed "---" as I'd just got back from a long drive in hybrid only.

I agree even charging in the day rate is still far cheaper than petrol,I was just confused as to why it always charges to 12%,though I did just notice in their own app It does actually say that it can be charged outside the specified time slot,so I maybe should have read that first 🤦🏻*♂️

I use the timer in my charger (a Myenergi Zappi2) so the car only gets charged during cheap Octopus Go periods, or alternatively if there's surplus generation from my solar panels.

Presumably it gets up to 12% as soon as it can to condition the battery, then it waits until your preferred time to continue charging. It's very bad for a battery's capacity to sit there completely drained.

0% isn't completely drained. It's 0% left of the usable SOC range. There's some left in the tank. Usually 15% for a LiFePO4 BMS, but it varies.

The car simply won't let you drain the battery completely.

If it won't let you drain the battery completely (which makes sense) then insisting on ignoring your set times and charging to 12% regardless makes no sense.

Completely agree, which is why I use the timer in my smart charger rather than the one built into the car.

The reason probably is based around battery conditioning even if the logic does seem skewed.
