Where in the happy fuck is the Hofmeister kink? The best thing about it was that it made the back look slightly reclined (for lack of a better term) and this allowed the car to look like it was moving—even when standing still! Remember the old Maxell cassette ad?

Everyone can vote with their pocketbooks, and if BMW weren't so horribly subsidizing leases I think figures would speak for me here when compared to volume for the direct competition. I cannot speak for anyone. I'm a BMW loyalist, 3 since mid '15; a reliably returning customer any brand wouldn't want to take for granted. If the g80 wears this snout it's not getting a buck from me, no matter how much the PR dept tries to force down our throats that this is somehow unique or iconic. And dollars speak right, that's why we have an auto box, and no bespoke motors any longer. we in the buying sphere need to really ask ourselves if you could look at that face every day and part with, in M spec trim, at least 75,000 buckaroos. Patiently awaiting the G80 LCI, will stay tuned!

At least you won’t be confusing that front end with any other type of car...

If the M car has the horizontal slats of the leak, I can see it easily being confused for an audi.

I want to see it on the flesh.
I'm surprised at the shock. It's exactly what we've seen in photos, on transport trucks, etc. for months. |

Agree, although the C Class is this car's main competitor. E-Class is equivalent to the former 6-series.

Current gen 4-series coupe owner - Everything is great, except for that grill. It looks out of place, like it doesn't even belong. It's the car equivalent of a super hot chick with a giant, crooked nose with a wart on it. Who knows, maybe I will like it it 10 years but I doubt it. I wasn't planning on getting a new 4 series but definitely won't be buying that.

I think Mercedes and Audi's design teams just breathe a sigh of relief. It won't take much if anything to design a car that looks more elegant than that. Shoot, they can keep their current body styles and it'll still look better than that with two lifecycles.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though. This thing will sell like hotcakes simply because of the fact that it doesn't look like anything else on the road. |
