BMW G20 id6 to ID7 conversion done

Hello Everyone,

First post here in the forum.

I'm from Costa Rica and recently bought a used 2020 3 series with idrive 6 and the 8.8" screen. I wanted to retrofit Ambient lighting and MGU so the first thing I did was to retrofit Ambient lighting using OEM parts and not the chinease kits from Aliexpress or Ebay.

Then I started the process of having MGU and digital kombi

I found a person who sold me the harness, the MGU along with the RAM.
I already had the Digital Kombi and the 10.25" screen new in a box.

After many hours it's a success

Next retrofit will be the HUD, since I bought the cluster with HUD output

Fantastic job, well done! Perhaps worth mentioning that for the HUD, even if you get the projector and the new dashboard, its a special windscreen for the HUD to reflect the data to the driver. Good luck with your future upgrades and keep us posted.

I finished the HUD retrofit. The results was perfect, except that I need to change the windshield to fix the blurry imagine.

Contact me in private and I can guide you on the retrofit. Cluster I will recommend to buy a new one or a virguinized one. You will need the conversion harness, since the harness of entrynav2 and MGU units are different, also the RAM module is located at the back. With the premade cable it was easy.

The complicated part is that you need the FSC codes besides if you buy a new or used (not virguinized) MGU unit.

There are other options that requires the onbench flashing

Great Job! Are the HUD mounting points already on the metal dash support or does it require a separate piece?
Also, do all MGU equipped vehicles have a KOMBI with HUD output? I've seen 2 different digital KOMBI versions in the past.

It did not. I used a metal piece with a nut to hold it. However I saw that there's people that has used zip ties and it works perfectly

Amazing work, how difficult was it to code in the whole thing?
