Chassis differences of g20 vs g80?

In terms of structural rigidity, are there big differences between a g80 and a g20?

For instance, if you run the same coilovers and tires on both Cars, will the G80 still handle better because it has a stronger and more rigid chassis?

Yes, the G80 will handle and feel better. Look at photos of underneath the G80 and you’ll be able to easily see the structural differences.

You can find the structural reinforcements on ebay.. Always kinda wondered if they would bolt up to a G20.

I’ve been wondering about this too. What are the chassis reinforcement differences? Can you install those same parts on a 3 or 4 series? In particular a M440i. With all the B58 engine mods available for the Supra, the M340i/M440i xdrive platforms are alluring especially if one is going to swap out for coilovers etc already.

There are aftermarket options available that would substitute some of the oem chassis rigidifying for the G80. As we have discussed in a handful of other topics, braces from KC Design, sway bars, front strut from turner, spl catalog. I don’t think any single G2X in the world has installed all available options to determine if in fact the G2X would perform as well as the G80. Arguably, the G80 might be the better value if one were to purchase all chassis parts for the G2X.

I agree with your position on cost to reproduce a g80 handling with a g20.

Between power, brakes, suspension, and even wheel width, it would be cost prohibitive to replicate all that a g80 offers.

You need to drive both, back to back. If you feel the G80 handling is noticeably superior than save up for a G80.
I drove the F80 and G20 back to back (what I was willing to budget at the time) and felt the on street handling was similar enough to justify the newer G20.
