Getting Waze on main dash
Is there anyway to get Waze via Android auto to display in the main dash? Like where the normal nav shows between speed and rev counter.
Can it be coded? Would be awesome as then I can use the center dash to display other useful stuff instead of just android auto. |

But how do you get anything other than the BMW nav on the main dash?
We are NOT talking the center display in this post, but the MAIN dash where the nav displays between the speed and rev counter. We know we can display pretty much anything on the center dash. I am also talking on a pre-LCI idrive 7, not id8. |

I downloaded the waze beta program and it now has it on the main dash. I have ID8, not sure if that matters or not.

Does it really show the map on the main dash? I'm only getting the directions with the distance. Just subscripted to the Waze Beta testing will check later if there's any difference. Anyone already managed to get the map between the speedometer and the revcounter on ID7? |

Guess you're right. Beta version didn't change anything for me. Still only gives directions when I have a route active in Waze. When driving without any navigation still got the BMW nav map in the main dash.

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=779 Hope this helps. I believe iDrive 7 does not have the horsepower to handle third party nav on the speedo display. That starts with iDrive 8. |

I joined the Waze beta a little while ago after someone somewhere commented that's how they got Waze on the main dash. Didn't make a difference whatsoever for me. Until the other day when I noticed Waze on the main dash. Don't get you hopes up just yet, it was buggy as hell, going to the home screen on the iDrive caused it to flicker, then it was way off-centre, then some 50km later after switching the main dash to fuel consumption, going back to 'map' only yielded the previous directions view we all know from before. Moreover, while it did work, it didn't display any reports for me as well, quite barebone it felt like.
My phone is a Galaxy S23 forgot to mention. |

However, I didn't use it for long, because it didn't seem very useful for me. It doesn't show what the next turn or how long it is, only shows a very zoomed in view of the street and highlights the pathway you're taking. Maybe it would be useful to me if I'm driving in a new place but for my commute, seems not too useful. I'd rather display what song is playing in the instrument cluster. |

It works on IDrive 8, but as TheStoic mentioned it is not that useful - it zooms out aggressively and does NOT show the upcoming hazards/police.
