I tried. It’s more annoying having to wait for the lapse from when it receives the command until it actually executes it. Yesterday I’m saying hey Bmw for everything and I’m like really this long to get the heated seat on

Imo trading for the same car with more miles makes no sense when you can just make a small modification, if absolutely necessary, for cheap. As someone with a pretty well optioned ‘23 m340 .. the only trade that makes sense to me is a pre idrive 8 m3/4. But that’s just my .02.

Lets say 10k yeah. Gone for a 2020 in mint condition (I drove it) w 54k. Swear it felt better than the 23 for some reason. Better throttle response and no hybrid system that shakes the car when it wakes up. Every option besides the self park I believe. I don’t like the dual touch screens and clutter. The ‘20 has laser lights/bolster for passenger/lumbar for driver/rear heated seats/same wheels as mine but silver/idrive7 which I love/usb and video in motion possible/shadow line/360 cam/real leather/power trunk/gestures/louder oem exhaust/the shifter I miss. Yes I would have to get a CarShield extended warranty again……

Between those 2 cars, I likely will keep the 2023 for 40k less miles and $10k cheaper than the 2020.
If the car is kept for a long time, the 2023 will be preferred since it should stay trouble-free longer than the 2020. I tend to focus on the drive dynamics and those 2 cars should be identical. So the mentioned shortcomings of the 2023 in post#1 would not matter much to me, but that's just me. |

The 2023 was 57,499 The 2020 is 40,000 But I’ll lose the 8.4% tax I paid and small dealer fees. And if I trade it in I get 54-55k. Then I have to pay taxes on the 2020. Privately I would get at least 59 - used 2023 are so rare especially in my color combo

Is rather remarkable that you can get around 59K privately. Between discounts and dealer incentives, a brand new one - with the full 4 year 50K warranty- that stickers for around 64K reasonably equipped - and any color you want - is selling around 59K give or take throughout the country these days. I would have thought yours would be worth around 40K max on a trade and 45K max private. If you are able to get anything close to 59K private (which is basically the same as a new one with the discounting going on) take it asap!!!

The driver binnacle is so much better on idrive 8 vs idrive 7, much more configurable. The aircon being in the screen doesn't bother me at all really, although the heated seat behavior in automatic program can be weird. The center console and steering wheel buttons are all still physical. I like the shifter change, much easier to get into the cup holders and feels less cluttered. I use the paddles if I want to shift manually, never used the stick to change. The interior in general feels much fresher with the singular screen. Idrive7 is still the benchmark for button/software integration but its like anything.. you adjust.

tax loss for 2023: $4800 trade loss for 2023: $3500 (that seems a bit optimistic, my guess this should be $6k and up) (total $8.3k loss) And the 2020 is $40k + $3k of tax and fee(my guess it would cost $4k, but let's stay with $3k), or $43k Let's say the 2020's FMV is truly $40k + tax, but the total cost is still $43k + $4.8k + $3.5k = $51.3k with the trade, for a 3-year old car with 54k miles. That seems to be on the high side for a 2020, but the real issue likely is that the 2023 at $57.5k + $4.8k tax = $62.3k is too high to begin with. |

The red leather and iDrive etc, etc are nice-to-have, but do not enhance the DNAs of the car. $11k is a good case scenario, e.g. the trade loss can gap up from $3500 to $8000 and pile on top of the $11k. One option to consider is just to enjoy your G20, which is one of most compelling BMW products in recent years. |

I have made a lot of changes to mine - even stupid little things like starting up in my driving mode, right through to fully tuning the engine and gearbox to drive the way I want. The 2020 is the one. |

Personally I don't mod so the locked ECU and TCU are not of importance to me, but some friends used to enjoy doing so, until they bricked their cars. Also G-series likely relies a lot on its software to hit performance + CARB + mpg targets, so I would be hesitant to touch the ECU/TCU. |

If you will consider pulling a trigger, perhaps going to M3 would be better solution? I mean 11k might as well right?

Exactly what I thought. Been looking too. Cheapest x drive i Can find is 86,000. The 2020 m340 I want is 40,000 lol. Make it 51000 for the 2020 with 54k miles (yea I know) with the loss of my taxes between the two cars and loss Im taking for the trade in. (Still 1% chance I keep idrive 8 now tho)
