BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0
Hi
Thinking about having one of these installed, does anyone on here have any insights / thoughts as to how good they are opposed to Nextbase Dash Cams Thanks |

For an even more oem look: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1635359 ACE 3.0 is a rebranded Korean Mando IIRC. Most dash cams are Korean. It does the job. Is emblazoned with BMW logos. So you might prefer it. I have always preferred Thinkware, Blackvue etc. purely for features. Such as remote viewing and faster downloads. Although these days I use the BMW app to 3D remote view via my surround view cameras. |

Maybe they're sourced from different manufacturers, but according to the label, mine was made by Thinkware.
As far as I'm concerned it works fine, and does what I'd expect from a dashcam. The thing that swung it in favour of other brands for me were the reports I'd read of people having their cars report battery problems in parking mode. Several people had resorted to buying battery packs to overcome the problems, but they're not cheap. I haven't had any such problems with the BMW camera. The cost of a camera plus a battery pack possibly comes close to the BMW price. Before you take the plunge, have a look around Bimmerpost, and find out what people have said about parking mode/battery issues. |

I got around the parking mode issue by adding a cell link neo 6. A few hours off a starter battery 12v is fine. Not 12-48 hrs on end. Also, stating the obvious, parking mode is useless if glass is dirty etc.
Yes that could be. Mine had Mando on it. Great to see ThinkWare taking over. Reliable brand. Their dash cams are capable of many thinks like lane tracking warning, GPS based speed warning etc. The Neo 6 is expensive but fits well where the main battery is. Doesn’t over heat. It’s bad well over 4000 power cycles and has been going strong for over 5 years. |

A sizeable potion of the cost of the BMW system is for the installation. This link is for an X5 ACE 2.0 installation, I was staggered how much trim they remove. That amount of BMW dealership workshop time doesn't come cheap!
