'Must have' but 'deleted' options - any light at the end of the tunnel

I have recently been looking for a nearly new G21 330e, but all cars have HK deleted, which is a 'must have' for me, hence I'm delaying my purchase.

I understand these 'deletions' (due to chip shortage) have also included the likes of passenger seat lumbar/bolster support, HUD, touchscreen functionality etc, etc.

Are new cars being delivered as originally spec'd as yet? Or are these issues still ongoing?

The configurator allows all options to be selected, with the caveat that dealers can provide more information.....

When things do eventually return to normal, there's going to be an awful lot of cars hobbled by their spec sheets!

I've an order in for an LCI that I've been told will be delivered w/c 15th August. Dealer said the only deletion he saw on it was the contactless boot entry.

I signed for the order in early June.

I've spec'd the tech+ and comfort+ with the M seats, so I'll know better when I receive the car.

At least if HK isn’t deleted people will have something to be disappointed with…

I would not be holding your breath on anything returning to any form of 'normailty' within the next year / eighteen months.
While some things are now getting better at supply, (not just chips) Many are still falling a long way short.
From a personal perspective, I simply would not worry with the HK setup being deleted, as it makes it way, way easier to add an upgraded amp to the car from a base setup, with the proviso you have some speakers.
While mine is a '5' with HK, it is by far the single biggest dissapointment I have with it. (Apologies for those that have this, but I can only speak as I find)
While that is a purely personal viewpoint, I do have an appreciation of how it should be, and my spec being knocked back to the surround HK from B&W nearly, (and I mean very nearly) meant a cancelled order.
After tons of research I now know exactly how to get this sorted, both in a 3 & 5 series, but at a cost of nearly £1500 fitted.
No idea what the 'upgrade' to HK is with BMW right now. If you can call it an upgrade.
As for other items such as DAP, HUD, and a ton of other things, while they may be available now to order, mine was just that, right up until 7 days from production (an 8 month wait)
For sure, spec sheets on used vehicles some years from now will be laughable.

While you say that the configurator shows all things as available, they actually are not when you click to add them.
I had on order a 330E tourer some20 months ago, and it's spec sheet took the value to nigh on 62K.
Even with the new pricing, that price cannot be reached, and so many things got taken from it I simply cancelled the order.
Going to the 5 was painfully expensive, but I got what I wanted ( lets not talk about the B&W) but if I tried to order the same again now - simply impossible as so many items are now deleted.

The trouble is the 'base' audio is so bad on BMWs (and Minis for that matter) that upgrading is a must.
I'm not looking for audiophile levels of clarity, but I'd like a reasonably liveable sound system without having to go aftermarket.
Once you start removing and refitting trim, there's a good chance of squeaks and rattles developing, however careful the fitter is.
Not something I'm prepared to take a chance with, especially when spending 40-50k on a car.

I'm with you Bianchi Dave, the HK is way more than adequate anf a proper upgrade on sound systems I've been used to, the clarity is excellent. I'm almost 50, so way passed the heavy bass I'd have loved 20 years ago!

It probably brings the audio standard up to average for it's class, so kinda necessary given how poor the standard audio is.

I'd check with other dealers. Information is still all over the place at the moment and the dealers arent being told enough about deletions by BMW AG from what I've seen.

If anything happens with Taiwan , things may get worse . They churn out a load of technology although to be fair not sure how much of that is car related

If Taiwan goes bang you’ll have bigger things to worry about than your car.

Aw bollocks!....Too much vodka mate!

You did have me running back to check the VIN decoder again though!

Joking aside it's why I'm changing mine so soon I just know I wouldn't be able to live with iPlank 8!
Certainly my wife wouldn't relish trying to use it, she's still on ID6 and hasn't even got to grips with that version yet!
