That is strange. There are 2 types of software update. ECU. And i drive.
Ecu controls engine management and exhaust and is only done by dealer

We are talking about i drive update. Toys on the display screen It does have an option on latest imdrive to turn exhaust sound from speakers higher and lower. But should not effect the real exhaust

One can also decline install of update after its downloaded

I did the latest OTA update and regretted it almost immediately.

The pops and burbles are significantly reduced, I’m honestly pretty upset about it. May email BMW regarding the issue, but if you haven’t updated yet then DO NOT!

That’s a shame. Why would they reduce pops and burbles? That’s why I got MPE,to enjoy the b58 sounds. Hopefully next update will fix this issue

You have the MPE and you noticed a reduction in pops and burbles? I am past the 07/2019 release (I have the 03/2020.58 release) and have the MPE and it is loud with TONS of pops and bangs and gun shots lol...everything the MPE is known for. Perhaps it's just this specific update? Very strange that only some are having the issue...

Im on 11/19 update in US.. can’t wait for the 3/20 one hopefully that sounds like it fixes it

I was on both 11/2019 and 03/2020 and it didn't change anything (exhaust sounded exactly the same).

Mine was updated to 03/2020 by the dealer when I took in for maintenance and now there are only 2 apps there, "BMW Assist" and "Intelligent Personal Assistant", and no Spotify under Media. Tried updating Apps and Services but no joy.

Just to update on this. I noticed that BMW Connected no longer showed up on my system and I can't add the car to ConnectedDrive portal, i.e. the security code never came.

Took my car back to the dealer and they performed a hard drive reset and apparently updated the software again to 07/2020.25. BMW Connected now shows up and I have Spotify as well as Android Auto (yay!). Both Android Auto and Apple Carplay show up under "Apps". Pairing Android Auto with my Pixel 2XL was very easy and I don't even have the app on my phone.
Edit: Turns out Android Auto is installed in Android 10 automatically as a system app. That's why I don't see the app in the app drawer.

Here's a question: does anyone know if playing Spotify while in Android Auto mode uses my cell data? I'm assuming so since Android Auto is connected to the phone, while the Spotify in iDrive uses car's SIM data.

SO from the same sub forum there was speculation that OTA for 07.2020 would be late Q3.

Good idea, I'll probably do that, or I'll turn off my LTE on my phone and see if it plays at all while in Android Auto mode.

I had. 07/2020.25 update today from dealer.

Pops and burbles still there. No issues whatsoever with the update. Everything works.

Need to play around with it more. Was told it would've come out OTA by end of year. Only updated it because sunroof wouldn't close and error code software related.

Quick update on the 07.2020.25 update I've had.

1. Waze doesn't work in HUD but Apple and Google Maps do

2. Steering wheel heating now automatic with temp like the seats

3. Personal assistant working much better. Can open windows etc by asking

4. Android Auto available

5. New app - open windows function. You can set a location and it'll open the windows when you arrive. This might be available on 11.2019 if you update the apps.

6. Navigation maps are clearer with more detail on companies - show a logo if appropriate. Not noticed anything better with the cloud maps BMW talk about.

7. Still pops in sport plus mode but I'm sceptical if these updates even impact the ECU.

8. IDrive appears to quicker when selecting between menus.

9. Comfort access also worked better today. In that it didn't auto lock when moving from drivers side to passenger which it used to do all the time.

10. CarPlay was more stable

Other than that not noticed anything radical. The main updates are Android auto, Apple and google maps (not waze) now working in HUD, steering wheel heating coming on when set to a certain temp.
