Auto dimming side mirror too dark?

Forgetting about if your windows are tinted because my opinion is even with the windows down...does anyone else find the driver's side auto dimming side mirror to be really really dark at night? I get that it aids to reduce glare, but I find it gets so dark I can barely see anything.

The rear view mirror inside does the same but it doesn't seem to get as dark or bother me as much.

Add in any level of tint and the side mirror is more dangerous than it is helpful in my opinion. Again, something I wish I could turn off in iDrive.

I have a 2020 330i loaner for the moment and I was noticing today that the side and rear-view mirrors are way too dark. And this loaner has no extra tinting.

Yes. It is darker than the other cars. And what's worse is the "bezel" around it (the part on the mirror edges that doesn't dim) is worse. I don't notice it in my Audis. But in this car, I definitely do.

Totally agree with this! The side view mirror is SO dark. I wish it was adjustable.

I don't feel like this in general. Only when the dimming is tricked by a real dark front like a tunnel or garage it's to dark for a few seconds.

I’m waiting on my car, due on 1st September, but my understanding is it’s only the drivers side mirror that auto dims? I’m guessing the passenger side won’t have the correct wiring/fittings to make this work if I sourced a mirror from a country that drives on the right? I’m in the UK.

From my experience both dim equally.

Only the internal rear view mirror and the outside drivers side mirror has auto dimming. Passenger side does not dim. I find the drivers side mirror very dark in many situations. It’s possible that later software may fix this. I don’t know.
