This is a good idea but what does your dealer say? Shouldn't they have an escalation path they can use? Maybe a way to open a documented case with BMW NA?

I was promised my allocation finally in early Jan by my dealer. He said 3 others are also waiting for one and that BMW NA didn't have many allocations to give for the month of Dec.

He also said they were supposed to issue these on Thursday of this week but haven't yet. I'm guessing once they do I'll finally get my production date. I knew it was going to be a long wait, but this has been longer than I anticipated so far.

Folks with greater experience can correct me here but per my broker the allocation you're waiting is not with BMW NA. It's about the dealer. A dealer is given a limited amount of allocations per a timeframe in the factory so that they don't flood the production with orders and all the other dealers can get custom cars in.

It sounds to me you're waiting for the dealer rather than BMW NA. If you haven't paid, I'd take the deal to another dealer with an available allocation see if they can match it. A dealer with available allocation can put your order in and give you the production number instantly if BMW NA accepts the order (provided the order is something BMW can build - like packages/options selected correctly etc).

I do have a production number since November 8th however the date keeps being pushed out. It changed 5 times already. Both the dealer and BMW NA do not know why.

That's probably accurate. The dealer did say his regional manager had to issue them out accordingly to each of the dealerships in my area. When I put my order in, he said they were fighting to trade w other dealers and/or get another issued so we could expedite the process. Honestly sounds like 1 big shit show if you ask me.

Thing is, I've already put down some $ (I think it's refundable), but no other dealers will match my quote. I'm probably going to let it be since I have no urgent rush other than just being inpatient. I am a little concerned that the 2021's will be out by the time my comes in though. Guess time will tell

Oh. Your situation is quite different. If you have the production number and the status is beyond order accepted, the call is in the factory's court to my understanding. My order date moved just moved once since November.
If you end up finding the number and calling BMW factory please let us know. Maybe some other folks can benefit from it too.

My production status changed again for a 5th time to February Week 23rd. I have an allocation and production number since November 8th. I cant believe this BMW NA and the Dealer does not know why. I am considering to cancel the order and re-think this. I just don't understand why this is happening to me, it's beyond belief. There is nothing special about my order; no special color, interior or options, and no order changes. I have such bad luck.

I called them this morning. No changes on the date yet. Your situation is really tough. What was your order in detail? Are you able to cancel your order at least and get a car from the lot?

I ordered mineral white black leather, premium, executive, drivers assistance, wireless charging, heated seats, harman kardon, adaptive suspension. nothing really special... I had to order because there were no builds like this around at the time. I cant believe my build is stuck at 112 status since November 8th; and now they are telling me the production is Estimated to begin on week February 23rd, (week 9). it keeps being pushed out every time I call; five times already. The dealer isn't helping he's probably annoyed at me for asking so much.

UK customer here. I placed my order 24th November, went to scheduled for production 29th November. Production week...8 February 2020. Estimated delivery week 11 March 2020.

Dealer says it is down to individual paint (Dravit Grey) which seems to be the common thread here.

I'm just settled in for the long haul now!

it seems things are looking that way for all the individual color orders! Time to practice detailing and ceramic coating on my old car
