Folding hard tops look good on mid engined sports cars. They look silly on four seat, large coupes. BMW played this correctly.

I don't think so. Most 60+ year olds don't want to bother with a stick, and those under 25 often don't know how to drive one, but I'm in clubs and enthusiast groups of primarily 25-50'ish year olds, and most drive manuals. I won't buy a fun car without one.

If Corvette wants to attract younger buyers (average buyer is around 60,) I think the experience is important, which BMW and Porsche both get.

Being a Corvette guy and a big racing fan I did a quick search to see what the team was doing for the C8R. Found this wee whistle wetter. Can’t wait to see it live at Lime Rock and maybe Watkins. IMSA GTLM

Also found this, a short history in pictures of Corvettes at Le Mans. The C6R’s were the team glory days.

Just a quick glance at the pictures, looks like poor panel fitment is literally just rubbing the paint off.

That's sad.

Well that cinches it for me. Gotta spend my GM bucks on something. My daughter wants my F33 for her 18th birthday so I have an excuse now.

Talked to my local Chevy dealer today and was told that it's a misleading internet rumor about almost being sold out....said most of the dealers first allocations are sold out, but that is only about 1/3 of what they expect to produce for 2020

Like it or not, there is no denying that there has never been a car released with as much buzz as this C8 and I don't think it's even close....

Even in its base form, this white one is sofa king sick!!!

I’m partial to the silver. My C6 is silver and if I get a C8 it will be also. It really shows the body panels very nicely on the new one.

My C6 is silver as well. I think my next Vette purchase will be white. Never owned white until the current BMW I just bought.

Wife said it would be funny to have two matching color cars. I told her that I hope she understood that she just gave me approval even if she didn't realize it.

I was driving the NSX the other day back home from Rams training camp in Irvine and was in traffic(as usual on the 405) and was next to a silver c7 that looked just a tad bit lowered and was amazed how sick that car looked!!! Gave the driver a big thumbs up.....silver is not a bad choice at all, probably my second choice when I get one myself

I had a white Fury back in the day but it was a beater and it looking good wasn’t much of a concern. My 135 is white and I see your 128 is also. I’ll never own a black car again or white. The 135 is the 3rd wheel of the family and therefore is designated the outdoor DD. Every wet leaf that falls on it stains the paint in short order and it a day or two after washing it shows all the road grime. Looks great but needs to much attention. Silver isn’t nearly as sensitive to not being showroom clean and means time washing and waxing. Life’s too short to spend hours on polishing. That’s my take on it anyway.

Lol. Hold her to it! My wife's newish Lincoln is silver. The C6 and hers look very nice next to each other.

Agreed. When the C6 first came out I said that’s much nicer looking then the C5 and when I saw the machine silver I knew it was mine. I also liked a bunch the C5 Spiral Gray, darker tone and real nice.

Why would GT shoppers cross shop sports cars? Both are not direct C7 or C8 competitors.

The C8 does bring up some interesting issues for the current 718 however.
You make it sound like there's some regulation banning shopping vehicles across classes. I've already gone on record as my next car short list includes the C8, a CPO Macan Turbo, or a M340i (in that order). Three completely different vehicles but each has its own advantages/disadvantages.

I need a back seat, so I don't consider any two seaters. I did cross shop a 997.2, M2 and Wrangler two door recently though, so I'm certainly aware of bizarro cross shopping.

On the surface I just see the 911 and M4 as softer, more practical, less focused cars. Much like someone shopping for an M8 might consider a Continental but likely isn't also considering an F8 or 720s.

I tend to think the last Corvette was overwrought, and I don't like the rear on the C8, but I think the C8 looks pretty good toned down in all silver without the black side blades or spoiler. In other words, the base model:

One of my first Z06's I wanted was the 2001 Speedway White. Man that car was beautiful and they are still hard to find. Ended up with a 2003 Black Z06.

This was my 2nd Black vehicle...the first being a Black E46 M3. I love the color...but never again will I own one. Props to those who have them and keep them up.

One of the best looking colors in my opinion, but I would rather be driving and not cleaning!

My 993 is black on black and I love the colour. i get some really good wax on it when I can so it's easy to give it a quick rinse off before a drive.

Oh, for sure. My statement certainly isn’t always the case. I was just trying to show that, with the C7 having likely the highest average age buyer of sports cars, while also having one of the lower manual take rates, there’s apparently not a lot of manual love from the over 60 crowd.
