I am pretty sure GM intentionally slammed in a Camaro rear end there just to piss off a few people :-) This angle makes it look more like a Camaro than a Vette.

Outside of the tail light design, I don't really see the Camaro likeness. But then it is a car with four wheels and a V8, so I know your thoughts.

But man I hate that exhaust. Hopefully the Z06 does something better, or just any aftermarket company. Square is not a shape that any exhaust pipe should be.

The 1970 Corvette and Camaro also shared extremely similar rear ends. The Corvette isn't a separate brand.

Besides, the Camaro might not even be around in 3 years to have something to compare to.

This literally doesn't make any sense.

Everything mechanical has changed, but its not going to feel different mechanically.

OK.

I ran the numbers. Approximately zero people are going to mistake the 2 cars.

This issue will be clear to me when I finally get to drive the car soon hopefully. My current M cars are starting to cost quite a bit in term of maintenance so I will need a new car regardless just to be cost effective.

+1

The only thing they didn't do was make it 4 doors. Mechanically it is a major departure from previous architecture.

No, they needed to show BMW chassis engineers how to build a sport coupe that can handle.

But wait... The Camaro is the Alpha platform... Viffer says the Alpha ATS didn't make BMW do anything it wasn't already doing... So, well, there's that

I have to say, that pic does not say "Corvette" at all. The front and sides say "Corvette" in the design language, the rear not so much.

But the same was true of the C7. The back always seemed forced. Now it appears that it was a bridge to get people ready for this.

2D photos do not do the rear justice from straight on. It makes it look flatter than it actually is.

The rear is actually very curved(shapely), something you have to see in person.

Those pics just escalate my hatred of those exhaust finishers. You may have restrained yourself from chrome wheels GM, but you still had to give us these turds.

I actually wish it was flatter with straighter lines, had different tail lights, different exhaust, etc.. GM somehow managed to make the interior and rest of the car look higher end than normal, yet the rear somehow got cheaper looking.

All I see is they are trying to keep some family styling clues...like, well, EVERY single manufacturer does. I have a Camaro. It does not look like a C8.
