Got a reply back from the dealer today. My car is also at status 165 and waiting to board a ship.

Are you sure yours is still status 165? Has your dealer confirmed that its on a ship. If so, it should be a different status.

BTW: My dealer is going to let me know the ship name, once it boards a ship (so I can track).

Because of the pest infestation, there is a backlog of cars waiting to be offloaded in Melbourne and around australia.

Because of this, you might find that both our cars are currently at the Port of Departure, waiting to board a ship and they both may end up on the same ship

PS: These are the status from 165 onwards:

165 In Transit – Plant of Manufacture to Port of Departure
168 Manufacturer stock
170 Vehicle planned for workshop
172 Vehicle scheduled for workshop
174 Vehicle in workshop
176 Workshop exit
180 Vehicle waiting release of consign.
181 Handover to distribution
182 Handover to carrier/load assignment
190 Dispatched from AG
191 Returned to AG
193 Arrival at port or compound
199 Handover to Customer in Munich

Did you end up also getting 50yr badges for the wheels (as well as front and back)?

Can you share the link? Would be interesting to see how much that site was compared to what dealer quoted me.

The M Technology Pack also gets non-run flat tyres and a puncture repair kit.

Unless you are planning on going offroading (or climbing curbs), I would think you should be fine with the underbody radiator.

I would be more worried about damage from going through flood waters.

Unsure if this link works or not

And

Seller beat any stealer price by 15-25%

I recommend you buy a few things to save on shipping.

Wow. Thats some impressive array of accessories. Looks like you purchase nearly every accessory available.

Who are you going to get to install all these accessories, or are you pretty handy and will DIY?

BTW: I see you got the door LED light as well. I thought the LED door lighting was a deleted option.
Are you sure we get his option? Or are you going to retrofit the LED light onto the bottom of the doors, including adding wiring?

FYI. Did the seller also throw in the bag of lollies?

PS. I see they have the ACE 3.0 PRO for sale. May ask the dealer if they would install it if I sourced it myself (if not available when my car arrives).

“Who are you going to get to install all these accessories, or are you pretty handy and will DIY? “ - I’m going to do them myself because I previously owned a m140i and had the pleasure of installing the same accessories on her. It’s very straight forward and I recommend you watch a YouTube video.

“BTW: I see you got the door LED light as well. I thought the LED door lighting was a deleted option.
Are you sure we get his option? Or are you going to retrofit the LED light onto the bottom of the doors, including adding wiring? “ - Undecided about the puddle lights at this stage. I’m going to look into it at the same time as upgrading my speakers.

“FYI. Did the seller also throw in the bag of lollies?”
- He sure did! The dude lives near one of the factories and is a lovely man to deal with. Fanatic pricing and super Responsive - just make sure you bundle your items to save shipping

“PS. I see they have the ACE 3.0 PRO for sale. May ask the dealer if they would install it if I sourced it myself (if not available when my car arrives).”

I don’t see why they wouldn’t fit them for you but I wouldn’t buy the dash cam until you’ve played with the drive recorder.

Do you know how long your cars been at port for?

also dealer mentioned a car built 3 days before mine got on a ship, and will arrive in AU on March 16th or 17th.

quite sad it wasnt on the same ship haha

Mine was built mid Jan 2023, and is still at status 165.

Was speaking to a BMW service technician today, outside my son's school and he mentioned there are big delays and the dealership he works for hadn't received any new cars for a month.

Might be worth emailing the saleman who sold you the car to confirm if your car is still in status 165 and if so, if he knows when it is likely to get on a ship.

PS. I email my salesman regulary with questions, including to get updates. He is pretty cool.

Sorry to hear your car is also impacted by these shipping delays.

My car has only been in status 165 for about a week or so, so hasn't been at the port for too long compared to yours and younges.

BMW don't sell too many cars, so hopefully, all the BMW's headed to Australia (sitting at the port in Mexico) can all be loaded on the next ship and we all get our cars around the same time.

I wanted to sell my Touareg, but might wait until I know when my car has got onto a ship, and get a firm arrival date.

PS. The dealer did mention that a delay at the port is better than being stuck on a ship, waiting to be offloaded at the destination port (currently big delays due to seed and pests infestation).

Thats good that you can do the installation yourself. Cuts out the labour charges to get some other guy to install.

I got a big bucket of those lollies from Costco a couple of years ago. I used to take 10 or so bags of them to my work and hand them out to co-workers as treats.

BTW, we do get the side lighting (I assume it comes from the side mirrors), so I am not too fussed about the deleted puddle lights.

Great news. Did your dealer provide you the name of the ship and the expected arrival date?

That way you can track the arrival date and others check if their vehicles are on that ship via the VIN number.

Congrats! I couldn't help myself and made some changes to my build, but while there I was at least able to get a production number and build date for my order. Still a long wait for a boat for me of course.

Vessel is called “Traviata” and estimated to dock in brisbane on 1/04/2022 - I’m not holding my breath because of the s**t show of a mess in bio security

A friend who’s car was built a week after mine is also on a different ship heading towards Melbourne in two weeks time.

I’m trying to track the ship without paying money. Any recommendations of how to get around this?

Just google the name of the ship. There will be ship tracking sites.

Check this site:

https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9700524

PS. There is a section called "Port Calls".

It states that just left Canada and on the way to Baltimore. Prior to that it was in UK and Spain. Doesn't look like it has been in Mexico yet, unless it is going down their after its next stop.

Other tracking sites:

FYI: I just got news from the dealer that my car is on a different ship Tannhauser (https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/details/9731640) and is due to arrive in Melbourne on 30th March 2023, with an expected delivery date of mid April.

Not sure why our cars boarded two different ships all headed to the same location.

BTW: Do you have a date for when it is arriving in Melbourne port? You provided a date of 1-April of your ship arriving in Brisbane.

That’s a total of 3 different ships heading to Australia!
Maybe bmw finally pulled their weight and called in a few favour to clear the back log?

I think my ship is coming directly from America to Brisbane rather than a tour of the world.

Fingers crossed the back logs clears for us all

Can't wait. I will finally get to see some M340i G20 LCI updates on the road.

FYI: If you know the origin port and destination port, you should be able to pull up a similar schedule, on the link below:

Looks like my ship is a direct to Melbourne (assuming the information on the map is accurate), taking 42 days.

https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com/schedules

If you click "Download PDF" link it downloads the detailed schedule with all the legs. My ship only has two legs.
