Trunk 12V Power Port?

Where is it?

OM says: “A socket is located on the right side in the cargo area. Unfold the cover” which from the picture looks like its next to the fuses but I can’t fine it. I have a M340i with a spare tire.

I could be wrong, but some additional ports or power outlets depend on the packages you ordered your vehicle with.

Don't know if Luggage Package was a joke or not either but I think I got every package available.

(493) Storage Package -used to be named "Luggage Package"- standard in the M340i. Used to be optional in BMW 3-Series several years ago.

My 2018 M3 has the trunk 12V socket with the standard (493).

If you do not see it then it may have been removed from the package by the bean counters of BMWUSA.

Curious why BMW took away the extra power port under the glovebox and replace it with one in the trunk?, and what advantages or usage would a typical BMW owner need a power port back there?

On my M340i, UK car, it is on the right hand side, just above the cubby hole.

Hi,

On my M340 (US), I have 12v receptacle in trunk in the recess on the passenger side -- opposite of where it was on my F30.

Also, there is no receptacle under glove compartment like I had on my F30. Still have one between cupholders & one at back of console

Check the order guide and your Window Sticker.

If it is supposed to be there and is missing it may be a factory mistake. Sort of how my G30 is missing the valet switch for the trunk in the glove box because they forgot to install it at the factory...

Outlet

Was anyone able to figure this out? I’m looking for the outlet in my 2020 M340i cargo area and cannot seem to locate the 12v outlet back there. The owners manual seems to indicate there should be an outlet. Is it hidden and how do I find it?

It isn't hidden. It's in plain sight. Photo from my 2020 330i attached below.

I have one there in my 201 M340i. It’s hard to see and at an unusual angle, so maybe look a little harder.

My F30 also had a power point up under the dash near the passenger’s left foot, and one in the rear console. Both were very convenient locations.

That's weird that my 2020 330i has it whereas your 2020 M340i doesn't. And apparently the 2021 M340i has it too? Idk what BMW was thinking!

Missing

Did a thorough check and absolutely no outlet or outlet covers located in the cargo area. I have a spare setup and wonder if maybe they left it off because of it?

Ah that may be the case. Mine came with RFTs and a deeper trunk.

In my configurator it's noted, in the option 493 which includes the 12V outlet in the trunk, that it is deleted when the spare tire option is selected. Don't know the reason but that gives the answer.

Thank you, I was wondering if that was the case. Could be differences in the panels. That suing said, I wonder if I have one hidden behind the panel?
