Angry Uncomfortable door armrests

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Who the heck passed this stupid door card through final sign-off? Has no one at BMW driven their G20 prototype for more than a couple hours? It's really stiff, actually stiffer (therefore cheaper) than in previous generations.

Spent the past four days driving on the motorway with my elbows resting on both armrests as you do and my left elbow that was on the door armrest was NOT happy.

Not to mention it's cheap rubber plastic despite the car having full Individual leather interior option.

After a 13 hour drive home from the dealership I concur that both the door armrest and center console are not the most comfortable.

Does anyone make a "pad" that can be attached? Something similar to this on my Corvette (this is OEM, but I've seen aftermarket as well).

My minor gripe is that my left knee tends to rest against the speaker grill- not very comfortable.

Couldn't agree more with both statements! Would be fantastic to have a alcantara option!

From personal experience, you can buy rolls of Alcantra fabric and covering interior pieces is not that difficult (depending on the shape). I've covered most of the interior plastic panels in my Z06 with Alcantara & so far have only $250 into it. Another $250 worth of fabric & I'll have everything covered. https://relicate.com/collections/alcantara

Glad someone else posted about this. After a few road trips this past month, my elbow would get sore from the door armrest.

I like the second set as well because it says it has foam in it where the other one has some sort of composite material. However, I wish they came in other solid colors. I wish they had one in all light brown like the 1st set to somewhat match my interior.

As far as I can tell, the LCI G20 has got the same door cards so no improvement on that front. But the one in the new 2 Series felt softer to touch.

Part of the reason I got an M440i GC. Bigger and softer arm rests on the doors.

Hey I had to remove the entire dash in my $125k Z06 to fix the leather dash that was peeling up. I'm happy to add $30 armrests

Well, only people outside the car are bothered by the beaver teeth while you're driving, whereas you, the driver, get the armrest. It's the vehicle equivalent of deal with it shades.

However, another counterpoint is the rear headroom. Can't win.
