Hey peeps. I just took over a lease on a 2020 330i M Sport which is Black Sapphire Metallic , and I see more defects than I want every time I wash it . Random swirls on the hood , and some small simple scratches nothing deep. I was told to let it go , but the OCD in me just can't LOL. Any recommendations on what products I can use to help restore my sanity :

Paint correction and ceramic coating will do it (and protect it).

Try a 2 stage polish if they are pretty bad

Garage List
Dual action orbital polisher, pad and light cutting compound......

You can also just get it detailed and they will be gone....

If you are a DIY detailer, you could use a DA (dual action) polisher with a mild compound for the scratches and a good polish for the swirls. Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro 1 and Done has been demonstrated by a number of professionals to do a good job. I prefer a separate compound for scratches followed by Sonax Perfect Finish which I use over the whole car with a foam pad to remove swirls and enhance shine. If you don't want to or can't get into this much effort, go to a good professional for the defect removal and a coating as others have suggested.
By the way, I am not a peep although they are nice treats for kids at Easter.

Unless you are a bit of an experienced DIY detailer, bring it to a professional.

I have the same issue... will be taking it to the detailer next week. Also thinking about ceramic coating, but I have only about 18 months left on my lease.

Swirls

I just bought a 2020 Black 330i M Sport and it had its share of swirls and rubs.

I used a DA Polisher, a correcting polish and then a finishing polish, with two different levels of pad cuts.

These pics are before sealant. It took a solid day.

Remove License Plates. Wash with Dawn to remove existing wax. Clay bar where needed. Dry. Machine Polish. Hand apply wax.

I've only done this a few times before. So, I'm not a pro. I used Adam Polishes for their 15MM DA, pads, and polishes.

Good job!
There is no magic to lite paint correction.
Depends upon if you are a do yourselfer or prefer to pay someone to take care of your wheels.

Get a good DA polisher, the right polish/compound for your level of correction needed (start on the mild side), do a little research on technique.
And time...it will take some time and effort, plan on half a day or more if doing just polish/correction. Then you need to remove polish residue and then wax or sealant so plan a full day. Nothing a first timer can't do.

Best polishing compounds for correction

Great posts and advice above. I worked at a high end body shop to help me through collage. Now I do it for extra cash and keep my three cars mint. I use Menzerna polishes - no dusting, lots of choices, and always great results. I have a Flex XC3401 VRG DA. It has a huge stroke length and is a direct drive so it makes quick work of paint issues. I use Lake Country pads and then follow my polishing up with Wolfgang Fusion wax.
I do agree with others here though, you can do a ton of damage to your paint if you are not careful. But...there are a ton of awesome videos out there to watch to give pointers.

Chipex is good for touching in stone chips if they exist before getting it corrected/polished
