No more Orange Ambient Lights? :(

Hi guys,

Just took possession on a 2024 430xi coupe and realized that there is no more classic orange ambient lights anymore?
I had it in my G20 2020 330xi and can’t believe out of all the colors that it doesn’t have orange. Can it be coded? Am I missing something here?

Thanks
SM

FWIW I have orange in my 2024 M440 GC.

Edit: I checked the I Drive settings and it says coral. Sure looks like orange to me.

Hellooo!

No you are not crazy - Orange, Indigo, Lilac (Purple), and Bronze are all absent and not available on the 2023/2024 LCI 3 series and 4 series (incl. i4). You do, however, can now choose Coral, Flamingo (Pink), Turquoise (my favorite color), Azure, Pearl (White), and I believe Ivory (Tan)

Does it get any worse you ask? The answer to that is: ABSOLUTELY
- 2024 X1, X2, 5 Series (incl. i5), 7 series (incl. i7), and iX all have their Ambient Lighting color paired with a specific driving mode, or in other words, changing the driving mode will change the ambient lighting color rather you like or not
(e.g., If I have my Ambient Lighting color in my 7 series set to Emerald (Green) in Personal (Comfort/Normal) mode, changing to sport mode will change the ambient lighting color to red/indigo)
- MY2024 - X5, X6, X7, and XM with iDrive 8/iDrive 8.5 can have the driving mode and ambient lighting color be separated from each other
(e.g., driving an X6 with the ambient lightning color set to "Lavender" will have the option to keep the color set to Lavender, regardless of which driving mode I am in

I don't know what is going on with BMW, but someone needs to unplug the whole BMW brand and plug it back in - just let folks choose whichever color they want for the ambient lighting and leave us alone! Its so sad how the 2024 X1 has a cheaper MSRP than the 2024 3/4 series, yet you have a a wide variety of colors to choose from in the X1, and a limited number of choices for the 3/4 series

Don't even get me started with the 3 series still coming with iDrive 8, whereas all the other models (excl. X3, X4, Z4, 8 series and I think the M3/M4) all have moved to iDrive 8.5/iDrive 9

The MY2024 X3, X4, Z4, and 8's still come with iDrive 7.... must be nice! I've had 0 problems with iDrive 7 besides the occasional software update.

Anyways, sorry for the rant, but hopefully I've answered your question!

i could be wrong but i do know that you can custom code different ambient lighting colors on bimmers.

on my G20 it’s a bright magenta instead of a dull lilac colour. code it on using Bimmercode there’s many tutorials on the internet. Bimmercode already has a stock selection of colors you can make the ambient lighting.

Yes can be coded but the other poster is right about unplugging the brand and plugging it back so folks have freedom of choice. Keep in mind, the number of folks who code their cars (myself included) is a very small community of enthusiasts compared to the number of cars driving on the road stock. This forum itself is a small community.
