Try this on my buddies this weekend. I told him but he may forget. Not sure if he gave you/filled out your list yet.

I haven't messed with mine yet. I'll do it when he gives me laptop back.

I tried increasing the brightness with the little dial next to the head light switch and that did nothing. I also tried increasing the brightness through the display settings and that also did nothing. Also couldn't find any auto-dim feature in the settings that I could disable.

Per the enclosed image, I think the auto-dim sensor is in this black portion next to the speedometer because when I put my hand over it, it dims everything and when I take my hand off, everything brightens up again.

Do you know if there's any way to turn off this auto-dim feature for the displays whether it be through a setting or coding? I imagine other owners who are tinting their windows are having the same issue?

Thanks in advance, guys!
Well, I live in Brazil.

Besides being a tropical country, this is not the safest place in the world to own a 65k USD car (which is the price for it in our money), so window tinting is pretty much mandatory, and eve though we have strict laws for it they are barely ever enforced.

As you can see in the picture, i use VERY dark window tinting, 4% transparency on my side windows and 35% on the windshield.
I never had a single problem with the dimming in any of my screens. Check your local dealer!

This is what scares me about dumping on paint correction and a full-body paint protection film before I even take delivery.

The bigger question is who the hell pays $600 for window tint?

Just got my windows done 20% all around and everything is working just fine even on Seattle's overcast days.

I spoke to the local BMW workshop foreman about this. He said the sensitivity of the sensor cannot be adjusted. It senses the amount of UV rather than actual ambient brightness. So if the tint has a high UV filtration, the dimming is going to be more noticeable regardless of the darkness of the tint. Take it with a grain of salt if you like...

I've been told this exact same thing from my dealership. Both my X3 and 330i have this issue with 30% nano tint.

Wait so dealership can't fix this issue? I thought someone on here had the dealership tell them you can code it to lower the sensitivity?

There has to be a way to at least disable the auto dim after all the car is a giant computer so it could definitely be disabled it's just a matter of how to do it..

If you get anything of decent quality, it is $350 and up. Only the really crappy dyed tints which barely help with heat, if at all, are under $300 for a sedan (usually around $200). I will be paying $600 for a premium (F1 Pinnacle) tint all around with 80% windshield too

I'm sure it can be done, but if that isn't exposed to a tech or there isn't a solution in their system for them to use, then essentially it is not configurable. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get in and code it at some point on both the G01 and G20.

It's a pretty bad buzz kill honestly the car looks so good with tint but sometimes it literally dims to 0% brightness, same as the iDrive and it makes the dash look so unappealing,
