M440i grille
So tired of all the haters. For years BMW was vilified for playing it too safe with design. The new grille is bold and, in keeping with the dynamic presence of the 4 series, a daring choice. Audi and Lexus have both used oversized grilles for years and have not incurred the invective that BMW has endured over the last two weeks. Why doesn't everyone relax until October, when we can see the car in person. I predict the new model will make the current 4 series look tame by comparison. BMWs are bought by people who love to drive, and the M440i xDrive in particular, looks like it will be a blast!

Also to say that Lexus has used oversized grilles for years and have not incurred the invective BMW has is simply not true. Lexus to this day (some 7/8 years later) is still the subject of controversy for their styling and use of the spindle grille. Audi on the other hand has shown how to properly do a large grill without it looking offensive. At worst it's inoffensive and boring, at best it flows incredibly well with the rest of the design.

A design can be bold and tasteful. Think F80 M3 and such. There is just no cohesion in this G22. It will be very interesting to see the market response to this.

I have no doubt that it'll sell/lease just fine, and design is inevitably subjective, but it's just SO damn ugly. I don't really care what badge that car is rockin', it's just hideous when it absolutely did not need to be. It makes the E65 trunk and taillight combo look pretty tame.....
