Media Pause/Stop/Play Button is missing

Hey guys,

I am discovering what might be the most annoying thing in the BMW infotainment system - there is no software or hardware Play/Pause/Stop button anywhere.

The media app doesn't have it, the Sirius app doesn't have it, the android auto app doesn't have it.

I can push the volume button but that just mutes the sound while the media playback continues in the background. This means that if you were streaming music from your mobile, the stream continues.

There isn't a button that kills the media apps either. So I can't just exit Sirius or the Media app.

How do you deal with this issue?

Buy an iPhone? There's always an on-screen Play/Pause button with or without CarPlay when on the Media screen.

And at least for iPhone, pressing the volume button actually stops the music playing (in Apple Music). YMMV with other apps - I don't use them.

Android Auto support and integration seems to have come as an afterthought (support came much later than CarPlay to BMW, and it looks like basic things are not functional based on what you're describing).

Everything you just described is also available on AA. I'm not sure what OP is doing wrong or what he's actually looking for because according to him, it's also unavailable outside of AA, in the iDrive/Linux OS. This has to be user error.

On Android Auto, the play/pause/next/previous buttons depend on which application you are streaming from. So yes, perhaps I am using a poorly built mobile app that doesn't have those buttons.

Someone show me the pause/play/stop button on Sirius app and BMW Media app that plays files from USB stick please. I don't think those exist.

If you want to quickly pause during USB playback, just press the mic button to bring up the voice command prompt, but just don't say anything. Press the button again to unpause.
