Looking for advice on tuning an M440ix with a B58 engine

Hello Guys,

It's my first time on this kind of forum, even though I've owned a BMW for the last year and a half. So nice to see you all!

So, to my question. I'm planning my next build. I had a 2L 330e BMW, and now it's time to move on to the B58 and 3L engine so I can start playing a bit more.

My goal is to buy the 2023 M440ix G22 (yes, I know it's not a real M car...., etc., but in my country, if I go for the M4, I have to pay a customs fine of almost €30k, so it's 100% a no-go for me. Even for the M440i, I will have to pay €10k anyway). Also, I need the car for daily driving.

My plan is to reach a safe 600-650 hp (crank power), no more than that, without getting too heavy into tuning.

So my setup list for now is:

1.Performance heat exchanger
2.Transmission and auxiliary radiators
3.(Maybe) intake manifold
4.Femto DME unlock, obviously
5.Dinan ignition coils
6.Cold air intake
7.Full custom exhaust with 200 HF catalytic converter
8.Charge pipe
9.Tuning – thinking BM3 (because I don't trust my local tuners)
10. Xhp Gearbox tuning

With all the research I've done, I know most likely all the above won't get me over 500hp. So I decided to go for the PureTurbo 800 without adding anything more like HPFP-LPFP or S58 injectors, etc., because my goal is lower HP and my budget is limited (after all the above). Also i dont have Access to ethanol.

My issue now is: if I don't want a custom tune and stick with BM3, will I achieve my goal of 600+HP with the addition of Pure800? Or will I have to find a tuner no matter what?

Furthermore, has anyone done these kinds of mods? If so, what was your final HP and your times for 100-200 kph?

Also, any advice on coilovers, brakes, and tires is welcome.

Thank you and sorry for the long post.

If you are going for a pure turbo you must get a custom tune.

Also rule of thumb, not that people follow it, is you should budget close to double because something will probably break at some point. Don’t blow your whole budget on parts and if something goes wrong you no longer have a functioning daily driver and no money to fix it.

bootmod3 is an excellent platform, but you must work with a customer tuner once everything is installed to get the most out of your build

What if I don't use custom tune? Will I achieve a reasonable number? Also will be safe with Bm3? Or because the turbo I need a custom tune to be safe

In my opinion, doing all these upgrades and not getting a custom tune would be a waste of money.
