Koni Special Active dampers
I have a passive M-Sport suspension on my car, and I must admit that it feels a bit too stiff for my taste, so I started to look for alternatives. One alternative is to install the Koni Special Active dampers to my 3 series, and the other is to sell the car and get something else. I kinda like the 3 series, so I'm leaning more toward the suspension replacement.
Does anyone here have experience with Koni's suspension on the g20 series? Is it worth it? |

I am looking into the same options and waiting on the release of these struts for G20 2019+
I will sure replace the OEM Struts and local dealer suggested Koni's to KW Coil overs to maximize comfort. so Going with those I am sure can relate the OEM suspension setup is wayyyy toooooo firrrmmmmmmm.. its just doesn't let me sit in my seat |

Cannot comment on these shocks on the g20, but I ran them on my previous f30 335i msport with static suspension.
Loved them! noticably less bodyroll on the car. didnt notice much change in the ride quality, maybe a little stiffer than stock. still a comfortable ride. I've driven a g20 320i msport with static suspension and wow the ride is HARSH.. |

It’s worth considering the KW V1 coil over if you’re simply looking for additional comfort and not much performance/handling improvement.

@peelerec , I was told by local suspension guys that KW v1 will still be firm if not even firmer yo OE.. I am keen to swap the suspension of this G20 to anything that gives me comfort.. They are suggesting KW V4 given their adjustment capabilities.. thoughts?

Hi, did you try swapping wheels and tires to more comfortable? Another thing that helps is using 2 psi over recommended tire pressure. It kinda evens out the ride. I did notice the ride is much better with people in the back seat. I am also looking into koni fsd for replacement shocks when mileage hits 40,000.

Hi Adam
Yes I did , I have now 235 45 R18 both front and back(Squared). Non Run Flats. Continental Ultra Contact UC7. I have changed the factory tires at 1200KM itself because of harshness and the ride got slightly better not too much. I changed this so I can reduce harshness untill the Koni's are made available. With new tires in squared config- ride is quiet, absorbs bumps to an extent. However I wouldn't recommend lowering pressure on this setup (as I have tried running car from 28psi - 36psi) and settled at 32psi. At lowered pressures the car gets too sluggish and you can feel bit odd riding from the car. Must say the tires are not as harsh as run flats and made the car better The real problem I think is with suspension so with my current tire config and with Koni(yet to be released) I am expecting the ride will be smoother |

Thanks for the offer Adam, I think they are shipping only to US Customers directly.
I m in Australia and had to wait until Jan or Feb 2025 to get them to the distributor here (as advised ), That's why I switched my tires to feel the car less harsh. I wish I had known about this and would have gone for 330i or so to get an adaptive suspension similar to my X3. Nevertheless my hopes are on Koni and any help is greatly appreciated |
