Why do mirrors not fold when I lock car using my phone?

Some sort of flaw with remote locking that the mirrors don’t fold? Does this happen with your cars, or is something weird going on with mine? Mirrors fold fine when I use the fob or hand on handle.

Try updating app. I have no issues with my remote function(s) when using app. I do notice that sometimes if I unlock and then lock the vehicle within a short second or two, the mirrors don’t fold. For me, the solution is to unlock, wait a few seconds, and then lock again.

Hello!

I think you have your key fob linked to your driver profile, but not your phone (The Digital Key). I believe both the Digital Card and Digital Key will default to the "Guest Mode" unless you link them to your BMW ID/PROFILE

To link the digital key to your driver profile:

All Apps --> BMW ID --> Your Driver Profile --> Settings --> Driver Recognition --> "Automatic Recognition" --> There you can link your digital key to your profile and so approaching the vehicle with either your phone or key fob will result in your profile/ID automatically activating and the mirrors should then fold/unfold when you lock/unlock the car respectively!

Unlocking the vehicle with a key that is NOT linked to a Profile ID will result in "Guest Mode" activating and I'm willing to bet the "Fold Mirrors When Locking/Unlocking" in "Guest Mode" is NOT enabled, which is why your mirrors are not folding/un-folding. I assume the "Fold Mirrors when Locking/Unlocking" in your profile is enabled, and after linking your digital key to your profile, you shouldn't have any other issues going forward!
NOTE: If the mirrors are folded in via the button on the driver door, the "fold mirrors with lock/unlock" will NO longer work and the mirrors will stay in that folded-in position; however, once your mirrors return to the folded-out position (e.g., by pressing the mirror fold button again or driving about ~ 22mph), the "Fold Mirrors for Lock/Unlock" will become usable once again (e.g., walking away/locking the vehicle will result in the mirrors folding in once again)

To summarize, once your digital key is linked to your driver profile, your mirrors should then fold/unfold when locking/unlocking the car!

Please let me (us) know if this works and if you have any other questions/comments! We all family!

Best,
Cameron (2021 BMW 330i - named: "Hrag")

PS - I only drive my car using the key fob and I am not interested in anything related to the digital key. That said, if I need something out of my car, but I don't feel like going to grab my key fob, I will use the myBMW app to unlock and lock my car and my mirrors will fold in/out upon locking/unlocking my car with the myBMWapp!

I’ll try this out. Thank you so much!

If the above doesn’t work use the Guest profile in the car and set the mirrors to fold on locking/unlocking in the car settings. That should cover all bases.

This is literally genius. Halfway sarcastic but seriously I don't know why I never thought of this lol. Thanks for that!
