What can go wrong?
Thinking of getting a Dinan cold air intake and turbo inlet. What could go wrong as a result of these and void my warranty?

Besides lightening your wallet, not too much. Aftermarket intakes do allow more dirt into the engine. They really don't do much but add a little more volume. Turbo inlet won't do anything except look pretty.

I think Dinan is closed air intake, no?

I knew this going in. I bought it for aesthetics and the sound. I wanted to hear more turbo noises but not a lot of turbo noise. The 2024 G26 intake is an open intake. There is an opening on the side opposite of the engine. Install was very easy. The only issue I had was one of the rubber grommets fell and disappeared. I know it is sitting on one of the undertrays but I cannot find it. I even used a borescope but could not find it. I have the Dinan strut tower braces so I did not have to use the included spacers. The only thing I don't like is the inlet hose diameter is too large. I would prefer to fit tighter so there is less chance of a leak. Also, when tightening the clamp it pinches the hose and you get a deformation of the hose. My tip, the top clamp is hard to get to even with extensions if you follow the directions. You can also turn the clamp 180 degrees and the nut will be facing the drivers side. I was able to easily get a fine tooth ratchet on it and tighten it. If you are interested, I can add pictures when I can get home. |

That would be awesome, I'm also thinking of getting the front strut tower braces so seems like the same 3 things you got done. Have you thought about lowering the car at all? |

I am not planning on lowering the car. I have the active suspension and it works pretty well and this is my daily. I will be building a track toy but I am looking at a different platform.
I added 4 pics. And I apologize for the dirty car. It is my daily and I haven't detailed the engine in a few weeks. One for the overall view with the strut tower brace. One of the hose clamp rotated 180 degrees from the instructions. An up-close of the kink in the hose. The "open airbox" opening on the far side from the engine. I want to add, I sent a picture of the hose to Dinan and they sent me a new one no questions asked. I will post an update when I install it.

Dinan had a new hose to me in a few days. I installed it last weekend and there is no kink. I compared both hoses to each other very carefully and could not see a difference so not sure why one kinked and the other didn't.
Props to Dinan_Engineering for the excellent customer service. |
