I'll add another video, had to really search, but I'd say this is similar to how I use the applicator. You can see how they bump the edge of that applicator up to the wheel itself so that it stays clean and only the tire gets stuff on it. About 1:30 into the video.

Speaking of applicators... my current favorite applicator. I've been using this brush all year and it's as good as day 1. Perfect size for lower profile tires.

Avoid anything with silicone or petroleum distillates. Not good long term for tire rubber.
And if it eventually browns, that’s the silicone…

Exactly why I don't use the stuff. Plus I prefer natural satin.

I am very happy with Chemical Guys’ VRP gel. Nice long lasting shine.

I recently purchased this applicator on Amazon after someone from my G29 forum recommended it.

It is really easy to hold and does a great job.

I got sick of foam applicators wearing out and needing to be replaced. Now that I've used a brush for almost a year, and it's still like new, there is no going back for me.

I clean the wheels, use a nylon brush on the tires, rinse and then spray Armor All Tire Foam. I like the finish and the price.

Might be worth a watch. I have it queued but not watched yet. I really like this guy's stuff, too, far better than 11k subscribers might suggest.

Shiny or satin? Last I used it, it was shiny, and so I stopped. Didn't seem to last very long either. But I will say it's certainly worth considering, there's really no one "best" product when it comes to appearance, and price can often be a factor as well.

303 aerospace protectant. Soaks in for a "new" dark tire look, not wet or glossy.

Not into buying the latest or most expensive. Bought a couple spray bottles of Meguiars Hot Shine on clearance (end of season). But, I apply it with a cheap 'dogbone' sponge, usually cut in half. No overspray. No sling. No residue on floors or driveway. And the bottle (and sponge) lasts forever and leaves a satin finish. Done!

I use Carpro Perl. It’s perfect but I’m a more wet look kinda guy.

IMHO, CarPro's Darkside is a little shinier and it lasts longer.

I personally love the classy satin appearance of Perl.

That will have to be my next bottle. I use perl straight out the bottle so its still pretty shiny.

Yes, it has a shine but not ultra shiny like some other tire products which is why I consider it more like a satin look.

I recommend applying 2 coats when using Perl and it will last longer on the tires. Wait for the first coat to totally dry. 😉

Greetings,

I have no affiliation with Griot's Garage, however, I've been using their products for many years. IMO, they have great products and work as advertised. I use their Ceramic Tire Dressing. And, I went to JoAnn's Fabric to buy a 2' x 2' section of green foam...I cut up a 2 inch by 2 inch square to use as an applicator...then throw it away.

I have some Armour Detail GHOST on the way. Eager to try it out because the reviews look stellar.
