the rear is a new development though and is the worst part of the new design by far |

I actually like this quite a bit. The rear is aggressive and the whole thing looks better than the Mercedes comparison. I'm also glad they decided to go with one LED headlight option and ditched the laser lights.
I would've ordered a 2022, but the laser light option went away, so that was a no go. But I'm not disappointed. I'd rather get an LCI version for once.

Classic echo chamber where about 50% of the negative comments in all 11 pages are like:
"Good god I hate X and Y and wtf is Z? Thank god I have a 2022!" Petty, inherent need to protect your previous investment? Y'all know you can have a pros/cons discussion without needlessly bashing the new because you got caught with the old? I have to agree with previous posters, I think this is a huge upgrade over the 2022. Pros: > Front fascia is miles ahead of the 2022 which looked like a sad, rounded version of the F series. > The hood lines are spicy! > Mild Hybrid ain't all bad. Instant torque! > Great color choices in the German and UK configurator. > Floating ID8 looks great. I encourage someone to show me a good-looking full screen dash that has a non-floating screen. Even the literal brand new Mercedes C-Class has a full floating dash and IPAD. > Full gloss black door trim and accents is a big step up over the grey. > Configurable 'gauge' cluster will be quite cool and soothe those who miss the analog needles. Benz has this and it's quite cool. Cons: > Not a big fan of the gloss black rear bumper changes. I'll definitely need to see it in person. > Shame about the laser lights but the DoT doesn't know what's good for it. > In my F80 I was a 75% gear shift bopper, 25% paddles. Now I guess I'm all in on Formula 1 paddles! The 'epitome of luxury' and it's "tacked on dash" as y'all put it: Carry a microfiber towel for the fingerprints. Cry less, drive more. The hood hasn't changed and mild hybrid was pre-LCI too, the ID8 gauge cluster isn't customizable into analog dials either... a bunch of your pros list don't apply. and that benz interior highlights how they chose to not use the big single pane screen ethos that's been in the e-series, and benz does it properly anyway with the big screen sunk into the dash with some sun/dust shielding over the top of it. front fascia basically a Audi grill protruding too far out underneath BMW kidney grills, will take the "sad, rounded" 2022 one thanks lol |

I have a 22 m340 on order but I’m not sure it won’t get bumped to the LCI. If the price increase is like what the UK LCI thread suggests, I’m out. I can’t justify spending 10 percent more, the current price is even a little more than I want to spend.

I love the LCI changes. Looks more bold and aggressive.
New headlights lost that cut-in that everyone was complaining before the g20 came out. New angel lights are thicker, makes it look more aggressive. And they are not just an upside down version, if you turn it 180 degree, you will see a difference in design. The new M340 rear diffuser looks very aggressive kind of reminds me of the M3/4 rear diffuser. Love the new interior changes too, the super widescreen is dope and made the whole front dashboard more dimensional. Center consoles is much cleaner now. I don't miss the shift knob as it's quiet useless. |

I can't be the only one who thinks this 'sunken' design actually looks worse than the 3er's 'tacked on' one.

Same here! I do like the LCI, but I think the notch flowed really well with some of the other lines on the front bumper and added a bit of aggression to the front appearance.

I think what I like about the front of the LCI is how it makes the front end more boxy. That was my biggest complaint of the pre-LCI: the rounded bumper. The squared off look looks sharper to me; more F80/aggressive. I could go either way on the headlights; the notched ones match the protrusion from the pre-LCI bumper and it definitely looked good. The new headlights match the missing bumper kink found on the pre-LCI.
As for the rear, I like the diffuser much more on the LCI. Again, more boxy, with that trapezoidal center section. A good amount more aggressive IMO. I don't love the black triangles though; the pre-LCI 'vents' looked better. Wonder if they'll do a quad exhaust like the rumors on M-Lites.. not sure how the trapezoidal cutout would look with quad tips. Here's the one that makes me question the LCI... why does it look odd this way? Judging purely from this comparison, the pre-LCI looks way better. Pre-LCI looks wider and more daunting; I'm thinking it's probably because the US Config is taken from a lower angle, making it look wider. The mirrors look good on the LCI. The bumper kinks look good on the pre-LCI. Other thoughts: - I've never debadged a BMW but I'd consider removing those //M logos on the front quarter panels. Didn't like them on the F21, don't like them now. - The kinks in the LCI carbon fiber roof look great. - It's funny seeing the car without reflectors in common places. Guess the US Config will remedy that. Excited for the US Configurator; can't wait to compare the new and old with the same render engine. The UK/DE ones are much different and have weird lockouts (can't put any calipers but red if you have specific options), and the picture is generally lower res and poorly lit. BMWUSA pls. I think it’s just the angle of the photos and the lens used to take them. Here is a quote from one of the write ups on the LCI: “The sedan receives a wider, more muscular stance with horizontal lines, slimmer light units and flared rear wheel arches.” |

Thinking the same. Excited to have a real BMWUSA vs BMWUSA comparison sometime soon, hopefully.

100% for me too. I have a 2022 X3 M40i and have had a 2022 M340i on order since January 2022. Have been pushed back from week 12 build date to week 25. At first I was thinking well if you're going to make me wait this long, I might as well get a 2023. However, after seeing the loss of all of the physical buttons I use every single day, I'm saying no thanks. I'm on Carplay 95% of the time as well and have no use for this huge, albeit beautiful, screen. I just want my 2022 M340i with the buttons I have now in my X3.
