I have the opportunity to buy a Submariner Date at MSRP from my AD, but I think I'm going to pass. I already have a Sea-Dweller and my son who will be graduating next June said he rather have cash.

When my AD called, I was hoping they had the Panda or Batman I've been waiting years for.

Am I crazy to pass up the Sub at MSRP? I'm not a flipper, and none of my friends at the moment are in the market for a Rolex....

Nope. It’s the right move. Passing sometimes gets you the ones you want faster (shows the AD you’re not a flipper).

You have terrific taste, btw. Two of my favorites

That's not really how it works

(stating fact - I am not rationalizing the way it works at all, it's a really annoying game to get what you want IMHO)

I got my 116500LN from them October 2019. About a month before they called and offered me a sub. I passed.

We were very lucky early in 2021 from ADs here in Massachusetts. I was able to acquire my Sea-Dweller (Lux Bond & Green), and my wife found a 34mm two-tone AP Royal Oak (Boston Boutique), and a 37mm chocolate faced Yacht-Master (Big AD)....all year 2021 pieces at MSRP.

Got the Explorer II serviced for the first time in over 9 years...very glad I did.

Picked up a 116655 (pre-owned) last week...didn't have a 40MM or Yacht-Master and really dig the matte black cerachrom with everose

First smart watch (Samsung Watch5 pro) and I'm on the fence...has great features/tech so it could prove useful when working or traveling. Time will tell

I can’t find a gmt from an AD to save my life. Been wanting the batman jubilee for years but can’t afford to pay resale. I’m a cop so the color scheme is perfect. Want to eventually hand down to my little guy. Will be in the family forever! I get laughed at by the AD’s when I ask about this watch lol!! Any suggestions?

Keep trying there are some great ADs out there.

picked up a 2018 GMT Batman on secondary market for 14,5k. It's above MSRP but I wasn't going to be $20k+ for new model year

Congrats!! Are you on TRF? I recall a similar thread recently on a no date Sub. I actually like the no date over a date Sub.

I’m not on TRF but I did make a post on the Rolex collectors FB group. I love the symmetry of the no date but of course you can’t go wrong with either!
