BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Picked up my new 330i xdrive (Portimao Blue) this past weekend. While driving around I noticed the tachometer lags the engine inputs quite a bit, which was very annoying. When accelerating hard, due to acceleration, upshift and drop in RPM, due to the lag, the tach stayed dead at around 2,000 rpm. The tach in the HuD was even worse.

Have other people noticed this?

Update: dealer said they have received a new software patch that should fix this...

It has been mentioned in a couple online reviews so you are not going crazy. Hopefully there is a software fix.

Hence going back to the original comments when we first saw that PlayStation of a dash. They should have kept normal speedo and tach instead of chasing VAG with their toy dash

They're a double-edged sword. If it wasn't possible to update these by software, I can guarantee BMW would have gotten it right before releasing it. Relying on software updates to get things right simply makes early adopters beta testers. Also, certain performance issues can't always be fixed via software updates. Then, future updates have the potential to break those fixes in the future. The beauty of software updates indeed.

if they had just used REAL beautiful analogue dial.....instead of faking analogue dials.

This stupid trend has to stop.

While I prefer a good analog gauge, most buyers equate a digital display with luxury brands. We'll just have to live with digital displays that really don't tell us anything more than a well designed analog cluster (with smaller digital displays) would.

Check out this beauty:

You get tachometer for HUD now with G20??? That's a big thump up. I really disappointed with my f30 HUD which it only has the speedometer.

Oh yeah I totally get it, This shouldn't been a update it should be perfect upon arrival, how ever we have to remember this is a completely new model of 3 series.. and issues like this are bound to happen. It's the risk we take when you buy a first year of something, What I meant by beauty of software updates is at least if it is bad or is an issue it could easily be patched or optimized on over the air update , we'll just have to see what happens,

I have a digital tach in my G30 and has no delay. Yes the graphic is a needle on a round instrument but still, is not like digital instruments are anything new or groundbreaking to say the least.

I'd like to chime in, my 3 week old 330i looks to me like the speedo is not calibrated correctly. I know the car is quiet and fun to drive but the needle is showing 80mph while it looks and feels more like 65-70 MAX. Anyone else seeing this? I'll look at my tach, but speedo is usually what I look at most of the time
