Based on what I've seen here since the B58 was introduced....if we are talking about a standard stage 1 or 2 flash or piggyback from one of the majors.....

lol yea exactly kinda my point

i really like feel these tuners and even the ones that get hate like the JB4 is legit

again in my opinion its all what you are looking to get out of the car

i just feel as tho the people who do or did have issues with piggybacks (bc i know they get a bad rep) have issues bc of user error

There is not that there are issues with B58 & tunes... point is you take it in for something else and they hook up the computer they will know you had a tune and could possibly deny what ever else needs to be fixed... related or not...

i understand your point, but this can be avoided. find a service advisor at your bmw center thats cool. honestly there are ones who will hook it up and take care of you. thats what the car industry is they want to earn your business. so when you do go in for brakes they dont hook it up.

but either way whens the last time you heard of a B58 blowing up or the transmission going? obviously if you go aggressive with meth kit on stock everything with jb4 and no supporting mods well yes you will have issues

to each its own and its a risk

Agree 100%

Food for thought....as time goes by we learn that it is less and less of a risk because we have more and more evidence (4+ years now with B58 on various platforms, F30, G20, A90, G05, G29, G01, G11 etc etc, and ever increasing cumulative miles on cars with flashes etc...) that a responsible stage 1 or 2 tune simply does not create any failures on the B58. Nor do they lead to failure of other systems downstream.

That said if it were the case that a tuned car voided all warranty or would simply allow the dealer to deny warranty on anything they damn well pleased - I would perhaps think twice. But fortunately that's simply not the case (presently) and anyone that says otherwise is simply speculating (which I am fine with but it's just that random speculation or worse yet fear mongering - which i think is a disservice to our community) and is not supported by current BMW lease agreements, your warranty, manual, or US law

They won't void the warranty of your whole car if they find out you're tube. They'll flag it and whenever you have any sort of problem or service you need to take care of, they'd have to go through the "people above" to get approval for any work that needs to be done. They do this because they want to make sure anything being done on the car won't be because of your tune, If your car broke because of the tune then they will void the service/warranty for that part.

I had an Injen intake, Catless DP on my f30 and took it in because something went wrong with my car after doing a 130mph pull on the freeway and we found out the clamp for the intake broke. They replaced it free of charge and complimented the car.

If you find a friendly SA you're good! B58 is bulletproof if you go stage 1 or 2.

That's next on the list for me. About to blow money on the aesthetics 😫

But you still need a upgraded HPFP if you want to maximize the motor... they tuned it on the dyno ... but real life showed it needs it...

Agreed from what I've seen (and experienced) the engine is very happy at 470ish WHP on E30ish-40ish - anything beyond that looks great on a dyno but for day to day driving and overall health of the engine....maybe not the best idea (but to each their own )

I think we are getting so close to that magic "500 WHP" number that it is becoming the obvious target (whether it be on E50 or full e85) - that said from what I've seen it's just a wee bit too much on an otherwise stock engine and DP combo.

I've witnessed a couple M340's hit over 500WHP on the dyno but it is not something that the tuner let leave the shop to be driven daily on the street. But again to each their own, different tuners, different approaches, different ideas relative to drivability and engine health....all good

Thanks for sharing the video
