Paint quality issues
I've had my M340 a couple of months and love it but have noticed several very small "chips" in the paint although that's probably not an accurate description. My car is white and they look like small black dots, and feeling them with my finger I can tell it's not raised dirt but missing paint. I tried to repair one with touch up paint but the included brush is too big and it looks terrible, I need some sort of extremely fine brush.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this, I assume the black I'm seeing is the primer under the paint so obviously it's going to show more with white paint. |

Same here, my paint has been flawless (aside from the wrong color white roof rail they installed at the factory lol).

I use these:
https://www.eastwood.com/touch-up-ap...MaAnTeEALw_wcB Makes a huge difference. The included applicator brush is useless. |

SpiveyCJ ,
I had some "road rash" and a small parking lot ding on mine after a while, even with ceramic coating. I used Dr Color Chip and with a little effort, worked great! Hope that helps!

Mine is protected with PPF on the front, half fenders and Hood, A pillars and front of roof in front of Sunroof. Only paint chip I have is dead center of my windshield right were the roof turns down behind the windshield. Of course the rock found the only spot where they cannot PPF it. Errrrr I also have a nice blemmish in my drivers side back door. I am sure that is from driving and have a rock kicked up.

Just curious, about how much was PPF treatment? I've never seen that terms, is that the same or similar to ceramic coating? |

I had rock chips in the front as well and I don't tailgate but I do alot of highway driving. I got some touch up paint and used some pine needles. Works perfect and its free! You can also use 70% alcohol to wipe of some of excess paint around the repaired area.

Rock chips are unavoidable even when keeping distance between cars. Semi trailers in the middle lane are always kicking up loose debris on the road surface.

I have mineral white. When the car was new, I cleaned it with detail spray and a clay bar before applying ceramic coat. Over the course of 2.5 hours, I found half a dozen small paint bubbles where it was physically raised. They were so small I could not see them at the dealership until paying this much attention to the car. Locations are rear quarter panel, hood and roof. I can’t find them unless I look for them carefully so it doesn’t bug me.

Having same issue with paint, in my F30 alpineweissIII too. it was less noticeable than Portimao but is something common with every user I can speak about. Also Bug shadows that I had to correct in a detailer, even if I clean the car immediately after the journey. After this OptyCoat pro was applied to all car (be careful with piano black trims). But this doesn't protect paint chips. A lot of people said in the UE automakers are only allowed to use water based paints which are far less durable than older clear coats. The car is only 12000km.
In my F30 the chips were far less noticeable after painting the front bumper at a BMW dealership. In Spain is difficult to find xpel instalators and it is quite expensive +1000-1500€ depending on how many pieces to vinyl. I never tailgate anyone, I use the maximum distance in DAP. Its very frustrating to be honest... |

PPF = Paint Protection Film, a clear plastic placed over the painted surfaces of a car. There are a number of different brands. Some people do their whole car, but others only the front facing surfaces. Those individuals who are obsessed get PPF and then put a coating over it.

I have the m340 and what I've noticed is since the first car wash there was those light swirl marks which I thought was from a dirty towel or whatever. It's a hand car wash so but anyway. I brought it back they detailed it. Buffed out the hood and was ok till the next wash Same shit. On the hood especially was those swirl marks but not just hood.....trunk. Everywhere. Just seemed worse on the hood. Now my car is a 2021. Which I ordered and waited for so I got it off the truck. Meaning it didn't sit outside or anything like that. So I was thinking maybe the clear coat is messed up or not added.
Ps. I tried waxing the hood which left crazy swirls. Even a light rub with my hand will leave mark. Which leaves me to ask. Is it possible that something wrong with my clear coat. Color is sapphire black |
