powertrains are similar. the GT3 and 458, despite having a 60hp difference on paper, actually have similar dyno numbers with the GT3 edging it out slightly. same with 1/4 mile numbers.

The 458 does have a better torque curve thanks to that extra 1/2 liter displacement. It also feels geared shorter to take advantage of that extra torque down low.

sound is subjective, i think both sound really good. the GT3 sounds better up top, the 458 has a better growl down low. To be fair i bought my 458 with an exhaust already on it.

handling wise the 458 does very well. the front end dives in and there is almost zero understeer. But the rack is very over assisted compared to porsche who probably have the best steering in the game. haven't had a chance to push the GT3 on the same roads yet.

Comfort goes to the ferrari. the comfort mode handles bumps better than the GT3. The cabin is roomier. the carbon buckets recline too.

build quality / tech goes to porsche by a mile

in terms of drama and theater...thats where ferrari shines. You can see the intake manifold in your rearview mirror. the engine is right behind your back. its lower and wider than the GT3 and feel like your in a go-kart. everyone will think you're a millionaire and be snapping photos of you in the 458. Its nice for a while but gets old soon.

Why on earth anyone buys a car like this and then sells it after 1,400 miles is beyond me. That is barely 4 tanks of gas! Congrats on the nice purchase. I wish I could find one like this one for myself …

congrats man... i am treading on similar upgrade but debating v10 r8 as well.

i test drive a few and it really is a baby huracan minus the brand and aero bits. pretty much same engine and transmission and with an exhaust

however, coming from owning 15+ years of bmw the audi still feels like an audi and the porsche just makes the better upgrade. however its that v10 theater that is still keeping it on the table.

a few gt3 questions i have:

1. i have read if you have bucket seats from factory you can not retrofit the 18 way seats as the wiring was not done. however, if you get a gt3 with the 18 way you can plug in play the bucket seats. yes i would have to buy bucket seats on the side but gives me flexibility of swapping.

2. how comfortable are the seats really? do you see yourself using it as a daily driver and long journeys?

3. does the pdk have the quick downshift feature like your 458 where you hold the down paddle and it will go through each gear to the lowest?

thanks for the help and enjoy the new car

Nice!

I want the same spec. My boy has the same color and manual with buckets and pccp (I think his has the cf stuff too). He's also added a bunch dundon stuff on it, including exhaust and it sounds sick! Drove it once and I want one bad. Hopefully next year by this time I'm planning to jump on one. Hoping the upcoming 992 gt3 shakes things up and decreases the prices just a tad bit. And that chalk is amazing! Enjoy it.

I usually hate these kinds of colors but it just works for this car.

That's your first Porsche? That sucks! It will be very difficult to follow up on that one. It is pretty much the best modern P-car one can "reasonably" buy.

Very nice!

yeah no clue. something about the wife not enjoying it or being able to drive it. too loud when you want to have fun with it. power is all up top so you're doing jail time speeds by the top of 3rd. he prefers his panamera turbo.

1. not sure on that but i just checked a post on rennlist and guy said the dealer wants 30k to swap in the 18 way sofa seats. seems ridiculous. the buckets are ridiculously expensive if you buy them after too, like double the option price. i'd say just find a car with the seats you like and stick with it.
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...buckets-2.html

2. i wont be using the car for long trips. we have the m3, civic, and tlx for those things. at most a 2 hour drive to kansas city. the seats are comfortable for me and my girl. but i'm 5'10 160 and shes 5'3 105. we both fit fine in the seats with plenty of room. hardest part is getting in due to the tall bolster. you gotta slide the seat all the way back to get in and out.

3. my car is manual. the 458 didn't have this feature and i'm not sure if pdk does. they will skip gears in automatic mode if you're cruising and floor it. but manual mode i think you gotta go one by one with pdk.

Congrats on the car man! It’s a fantastic spec and all around gorgeous. Love seeing the car without full leather too. My 718 GT4 is spec’d as such and for some reason it looks more purposeful to me in the GT cars that way.

WRT PDK, there used to be a kick down that you could hit on the accelerator and then hit the down paddle and it would go down to the lowest possible gear. They they got rid of that in the 991.2 PDK cars where manual is manual and as you said it is one by one.

Chalk is a great color and changes when you are in sunlight or in the shade. Looks great there!

yup. similar to the silverstone on the f80. there were some very cool pts(individual) colors popping up in the green and blue hues. but those types of colors just wear on me after a while. more of a fan of neutral colors these days except for black because its a detailing nightmare for someone as ocd as me.
