Reviving this a bit...

I have a pre 06/2020 M340i. I took the car to the dealer for a safety recall, and they updated it to STA 4.33.30 S18A-21-11-561.

Does that mean it's locked now?

Carbahn website shows even the newest 2022 B58 models are eligible for their piggy back. I could be wrong.

Surprised there's not more forum content on the Carbahn

That's what I'm confused about. Carbahn literally lists my local BMW as a dealer. Guess I just have to wait til business hours for a reply

Love taking on those muscle cars at a light. They can't catch me. They always looked surprised. Especially those loud Mopars. They are way to heavy. Cost 1700 with exhaust feature. Installed at BMW dealer. No remote start though.
How does it drive? Has the tune made your car jerky at all? I'm reading that for manual vehicles, there tends to be a slight jerkiness after tuning but since this is automatic, im wondering if it still experiences this issue. I also have 22 Z4 M40i and im considering carbahn but still on the ropes about this. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I can tell you from my own experience being tuned on Carbahn for nearly two years…. Bit more power down low. Much better upper end power. But it wasn’t smooth power. Sometimes, without anything else changing at all, it would feel like boost climbed 15psi and rocks the car on its haunches. Other times, again, changing nothing, it would be normal. You really couldn’t make heads or tails about what it might do.

Fast forward two months after finally unfucking the remote start issue and reflashing back to stock on my kitchen counter, I decided to go with MHD as their tune doesn’t break the remote start function and offers far more flexibility. Not to mention, power delivery is much more predictable. Wouldn’t go back even if I was paid to do it.

That bad huh? Yea I wouldn't want to pay for a tune if its going to make the car jerk and shit. I tried running JB4 on my car and it made it extremely jerky. I could be driving and ease off the gas and it would jerk or while coming to a stop at a red light. that shit got real annoying so I ended up returning it for a refund.

Both are pretty similar in performance. I know some dealerships will actually install Carbahn flash and piggybacks tunes (even post 6/20 DMEs with a Femto unlock). They also both come with factory matching warranty . So I guess it all comes down to personal preference. It is also worth knowing that Dinan only warranty's their 91 octane tune while Carbahn incudes 93 octane.

Has Carbahn figured out the remote start yet? If not, for that reason alone I would go with Dinan.

AFAIK Dinan only has the matching BMW warranty meaning if you're outside of 4yr/50k, then there is no Dinan warranty.

Carbahn also has the ability to buy a warranty even if you're not currently covered by BMW.
