Excellent aggressive design and modern tech !! Finally, luxury interior that justifies the price point and can rival Benz and Audi. This car will have some road presence.

Hand break lever from the 90's GONE !!!

I'm going to say that first impressions, I like it. Looks modern, aggressive, and luxurious. I doubt I will buy one but I'm going to enjoy seeing them on the road.

I would guess those are based on 0-100 kph numbers not 0-60 mph.

I just don't understand the condescending attitude and hate for this car and it's owners from some in this forum.

This is a perfectly fine everyday car. Remember, not everyone is a speed demon or a self absorbed BMW owners bragging about his expensive loaded to the gills status mobile.
I also don't understand it. I've had one as a loaner before and it was perfectly decent for normal driving. it was still rwd, and balanced. 0-60 in 7 or so isn't even slow.

The weird thing to me is how hating on the 320i is such a thing in the bmw forums given its not that much different from a 330i. In the audi forums i don't think quattor owners are hating on the a4 ultra drivers or a3 drivers and thats a larger difference than 330 vs 320

Didn't the car mags all rave about the 320i 6MT when it came out.

It’s the electronic parking brake.

BMW is keeping the cost down and using a cheaper rear caliper with a built-in parking brake function. The expensive option is to use a fixed caliper, and a small secondary separate caliper just for the parking brake (McLaren does this for example).

I’m not sure it bodes well for the next M3...

What? The current 330i does 0-100 kmh in 6.1s and the new one in 5.8. You must be confusing it with 340i.

The exterior is now in line with G30 5 Series so I personally can't say anything negative about it; even the taillights. Although, I wish it would light up differently since it's very similar to the IS. The interior design is very simplistic and kinda futuristic with the understated look. I like the material choice but I'm on the fence with the crystal knob and push start button.

Overall, a nice evolution for the 3 series and looking forward to seeing them on the road and maybe owning one in couple of years.
F30 was considered a compact??? I didn't think even the E9X would be considered a compact lol.

Funny how BMW claims no wagon sales here in the US, yet I've seen literally 5 of those new Buick wagons in the last 2 days. It's not even an attractive vehicle and somehow they are selling like hotcakes over here by Chicago.

Get with the program, BMW. Wagons are not dead. Volvo is about to rub it in as well once the new V60 hits the streets.

Since we suck that bad, can we at least get some news on a new GT variant?
Calm down, the wagon is always introduced about six months after the sedan.
I don't know about the US but you do have the F31 330ix so I guess there is hope you'll get the G21 also.

Agreed, It's all just silly bragging hierarchy that's all... best ignored!

I'm currently in a 340i which I bought because of a blinding deal I got, but it's stupid fast for daily driving! I'd consider a 320i G20 to get the manual transmission which will apparently come here to the UK. There was nothing wrong with my previous e90/e92 320i's. They took 9.1 secs to get to 60 where the current car takes around 7 secs... so a huge improvement over older 320's & plenty quick enough for most people!

The 'Sport' front end is kind of growing on me! Seems like this was the original design as per the sketch below... I may be forced to go with this anyway as currently in the UK the M Sport is vastly overpriced partly due to BMW UK 'forcing' the addition of the £1800 technology pack with full digi instrments which I really don't want. Sadly the 'Sport' doesn't appear to even have the option of M Sport suspension at the moment! Will more options be added as time goes by? I hope so!

very curious to hear first drive reviews of the m340i which I imagine are still a ways away. I recently purchased a CPO 2018 Audi S4 after trying C43 and 340i. 340i too dated and I knew this one was around the corner and will be pricey, C43 a little too flashy and I was worried it would look really dated as I keep my cars 8-10 yrs (great exhaust though), S4 my wife liked and the price was right. Much cheaper than both merc and BMW. Coming from an e90 335i manual I must say I miss the manual transmission. The only time the S4 is fun is when it's being driven in dynamic S mode using the paddle shifters, the merc was the same and I'm assuming this will be too. Hard pill to swallow when you realize the phasing out of manuals means cars are only going to get more boring from here on out. (I always knew manuals were on their way out, but as the saying goes you never realize how much you love something until it's gone) Sure new cars are much quicker, more efficient and technology-packed, but I've had my S4 for a week and already I'm over the technology. Maybe I'm just old - closer to 40 than 35.

Yeah this is strange. I actually expected 48V to debut with the G05. So not showing up in G20 means it could be several years out.

Still can't get over the size increase!! Even the new 5 only grew by little more than an inch... but this, a smaller car, has grown 3 inches!! Makes no sense to me that BMW don't listen to us, the buyers... Well BMW you may well have lost a long term customer here!

The original (1st gen) 5 was 265mm longer than a (1st gen) 3, but now a 5 is only 227mm longer. Both cars are now substantially bigger so the difference should have increased not diminished!

The G20 has truly become the new 5 series!

On the US website it says 5.5 to 60 for current car, this new one is quoted as 5.6
