I overheat and crash with iPhone XS running Audible and Waze in the wireless charger.
No overheating using USB-C in center console, and it charges my phone faster. |

Tried it again today. Iphone 11 pro in a 'plastic' cradle attached to semi magnetic leather cover.
It gets warm, in my opinion a bit too warm for the battery to be comfortable, but it's not hot. I can pick it up, don't have a burning feeling etc. It does charge not to quickly (+14% in about 40min) but that could also be a generic iPhone issue rather than the cars'.

iPhone XR in Otterbox Defender case, wireless charging (working quite reliably considering thickness of the case) running Spotify & Waze through Carplay, no overheating although it gets quite warm. However I keep the charging tray open.

BMW is avoid a recall
I got my BMW X5 back in Aug 2019 brand new. At the time I had an iphone XS max. It over heats to a point the phone freezers. I took it for dealer / service and they are lost what to do. They figured out there is a problem but blames everything under the sun but the BMW OEM charger.
Now I have a 12max pro and the same things happening. Latest on this case I am working with Apple so I can eliminate its phone / Apple issue but a BMW issue. |

Fwiw this is happening on my Android (galaxy s10) with my brand new car. Went on a road trip and want to try Android auto and charge phone...overheats and stops charging over and over. I also use other wireless chargers daily and was really looking forward to the convenience but now am let down. Also I'm pretty sure I'll never use Android auto anymore...I like maps better and some other apps might be nice but not worth the hassle IMO especially with Spotify as a native app
