There are many threads on this and here's my 2 cents:
1. Before you purchase the buckets you have to find a dealer that has them on the lot and sit in them yourself. Plain and simple, do not order without doing this. 2. You mentioned this may be a daily driver, would you be having work clients in the car? If yes, the answer has to be a hard no because of the ingress and egress issues that your clients will experience because they will not be familiar with the seats like this.

Ordered the carbon buckets unseen in person and with no seat-of-pants experience…… I will love them unconditionally.

It is hard to find one to try because they are a Priority One option (special order only, not for dealer stock) I found one when BMW was doing a dog-and-pony show before the initial launch. They were great FOR ME and I ordered them, but if I couldn't try them, I never would have gotten them. I suggest trying to find a forum member near you who has them. I wouldn't let someone drive my car, but I would let someone get in and see how they feel. I would hate to wait months for a car that I ended up not being able to drive.

I think the BIG thing that's being missed with all this discussion about carbon seats and not being mentioned as really important is that the carbon seats allow you to feel way more of what's happening with the chassis. You get really more communication from them then regular seats. This in turn makes the driving experience so much more elevated. The feeling of the what the chassis is doing is so much more important. The lighter weight and sick looks it's just a free bonus in my opinion.

Before I ordered, I wasnt bothered about the CFB seats. Thought with my 2 young kids I needed something less fussy and believed the cost wasnt something I needed to be splashing out on.
Picked up my TR M3C last Friday with Silverstone CFB seats and they're simply amazing. The drama they add to the cabin is worth every penny! |

Hey, so I have experience driving in both seats at the M school, driving my limit on the track for 2 days.
The standard seats are more than adequate holding you in the seat. I never once felt like it lacked behind the carbon buckets in any appreciable way. The seat belts themselves do a good enough job. The carbon buckets are cumbersome to get out of, I kept hitting the side sill while exiting the car. Once in it though, I did find them comfortable. The lump in the middle of the seat is a little annoying when braking as it hits your right thigh. One advantage to carbons are that they do allow you to sit lower in the car |

I opted out of the buckets as I did not want to deal with the bottom section of the seats. One thought led to another and I mocked up a crappy photoshop of how it would look if you had the upper portion with the standard bottom.
Seems possible given the parts for the seats are sold individually and the standard share similar components. Ultimately I would need schematics to confirm if its even possible then consider $$$$

I had a 12 hour nonstop drive recently with minimal stops. All I felt was how glorious the car was to drive and how beautiful the Scottish highlands were. The seats did not feel uncomfortable at all. I am 45 but short and slim. The Mrs is on the "large" side and she felt the seats were comfortable. The kids were sitting in the back and all they were saying were "faster, faster".
