Called Genius number and found the build week to be Week 34 (Aug 22 - Aug 27)

Hopefully dates hold up. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Originally ordered MY22 on 16th April. It didn't enter production and was going to be delayed according to the dealership. Cancelled it and reordered MY2023.
This moved from 'Scheduled for Production' to 'Order Received' as well.
Agent on BMW Genius number said that many M340i and M240i went from 'Scheduled for Production' to 'Order Received' due to parts shortage.
For my production number, they said, as of now, the earlier Week 34 build week is removed and factory has not given any indication of when a new week will be assigned.
Super bummed as this is my first car, been waiting since April, and currently I am renting cars month to month

I see, thanks for the update. Sounds like many of us are in the same boat switching back to ordered received. Appears like Mexico may have significantly reduced production of our specific vehicles until they get the parts. That would explain why it happened to many of us all at once, and instead of pushing back the date, they simply got rid of the scheduled build dates all together. It could also be to catch up on production, which may allow the rest of us to have a smoother production schedule once they clear up the backlog. Hopefully they put all of ours back into the schedule soon.

I just got off the phone with the Genius team, he told me my car doesnt have NA in the name of the car so he thinks its being built in Germany. Thats how the 2022 models were named so thats why he thinks that... could be different for 2023 models. He also compared my build to someone elses that got reverted to order received. I dont have the driver assistance pro/premium/plus (what ever its called) and they do. Anyone get reverted that doesnt have that package on their build? Still on for week 35 he said...

If My Garage is accurate (which who knows if it is), I still have my driver assistance pro package.

That might be why your build got put back in order received, they dont have the parts to fulfill that package.

If that is the case, I'm all for delaying my build. As long as it takes. I have another vehicle I can drive in the meantime (my 2011 328i xdrive still kicking, even if it is getting old and up there in miles). I ordered the m340i over the regular 330i in large part due to the inclusion of things like DAPP. Without that, I'd personally rather save the money and have the 330i. Yeah, the extra HP is cool, but I'm not really gonna track it or anything like that. For me, the tech upgrade is what makes the m340i worth it. Otherwise, the 330i is a much better value to me. I will not be thrilled if it is dropped for me. Some people don't care for it. But for me, its the difference versus the regular 330i.

My 3/4 Series Journey

Sorry about the long post. Way back in March I decided I need a car, this is my first car. I always knew I wanted a BMW, so I reached out to my dealer in the Baltimore Area, at this time, I configured a 2022 330i which ended up being around 53k. I was pretty happy with the build and the dealer had an allocation and we placed an order on March 30th. Now the wait started, April passed, but now I felt like, I should have gotten the 340, but I was not really a big fan of the way the pre LCI lights looked, so I decided that I will cancel this order and go with the 440i GC, which I really liked, especially the grille contrary to popular opinion. So on May 20th we placed an order for the 4 series 440i GC. At this point of time the dealership did not have an allocation but I did not look around for other dealerships, and wanted to continue with my current CA, he thought we would get an allocation in August, so I again patiently waited for an allocation, as the middle of august rolled around, the dealership still did not have an allocation, but my CA told that they have a 340i with a production number that has a production date of September, even though I really liked the 4, I wanted to have a car with the latest technology and I was really impressed with the videos on IDrive 8, and also I cannot wait for much longer for a car. So I finally ordered a 2023 M340i LCI.

Date ordered: 28th May [Mexico Build]
Production Number: 28th May
Production Date: Week 36
Changed to Scheduled for Production on: 4th August.
Reverted back to Order received: 5th August
Current Production date after reverting back to Order received is Week 37 [Sept 12]. [ Checked with Genius today]

I know some folks don't have production dates after reverting back to order received, but mine just got pushed by a week. My build has all th e options except for tyre cooling.

Wow that's awesome. Supposedly mine should be completely done on the 9th. Maybe my 340 will arrive to NJ same time as yours

I'm the same as you. I'm not taking the car if they are unable to fulfill the DAPP. I don't mind the wait as long as I get what I ordered.

Spoke to my CA and he said he took it off my order to see if it would push it through and get a production week. No change. So not sure if that’s it.

Changes are instant. You can make changes anytime before status 150 (start of production) obviously. I changed my interior from black leather to the black leather with blue stitching. Emailed my CA, they did it and was reflected in my garage as soon they emailed me back saying they made the change.

I know the change is instant on the build, I meant your car wont go from Order Received to Scheduled for Production after removing the package. That's assuming the package is what is delaying peoples production #. I could be totally wrong.

Congrats on the order, welcome to the club of m340i's owners in waiting. Week 37 is a month a way, that could change some more. I didn't check with genius to confirm if I have a build date or not since being reverted.

The 4 series is one heck of a vehicle. Not my type of vehicle (I like 4 doors), but a beauty nevertheless. You will like the m340i too, one heck of a driving machine I hear. Can't wait to receive it. Much due upgrade over my 2011 328i.

It could be any number of things, who really knows for sure. Likely contenders would be DAPP, PAP, HUD (part of premium package), or other parts. Personally, I wouldn't remove something just to possibly maybe get the vehicle slightly earlier. Get the vehicle you want. You can always wait, you can't retrofit this stuff (particularly the DAPP package), and if you want it to last a long time, then you will want everything you want.

Ah yeah I got you. Yeah I don't think its instant. Furthermore, we don't know exactly what parts they do or don't have. It could be multiple things.

I have an M340i on order, I called the genius last week and I was supposedly scheduled for week 37 but who knows now. I also ordered Dravit Grey, so that may slow things down a little. I’m excited to get it, but I’ve been waiting over 20 years to be in a position to get this so another couple months isn’t that big of a deal.

That being said you can call bmw genius and get your production week with your production number. That will give you a better idea of when it is. I’m sorry to hear about your experience and I hope it gets better. When your car goes into production is fully luck of the draw it seems. Some people like Frank are already in production. Others like myself and Tron are 6 months in waiting for production to start. Good luck man
Thanks again for your help!! Oh man 6 months sounds brutal. I had a buddy wait a year his Corvette. Personally I think this whole parts shortage is nonsense. I hope you get yours soon!!
