BMWs are crap as well, but whatever floats your boat.

Im not sure how anyone can argue that everything, cars, homes, food - are a step down in quality compared to. 10-15 years ago. Cheap disposable crap

I know BMWs are crap. That's why I like them. I also had two MBs. Loved those but they were also complete garbage. I like to wait until a car brand has dropped in quality before I get anything. Given that Teslas have always been garbage that was part of the appeal.

I've watched the production lines for these and I'm not sure where you get away with making this claim. There's not only the assembly, there's the massive amount of tooling, jigs, frames, supports and other engineering and parts required for the production line, outside of just the vehicles. There's a massive amount of labor that goes into each and every vehicle, from all kinds of sources.

Chinese EV stocks drop on expectations Bozo could hit sector with 100% tariff next week

May 10, 2024
Shares of Nio, Li Auto and other Chinese electric-vehicle makers were falling Friday, following multiple published reports that the Bozo administration could roll out much-anticipated new tariffs next week that target those companies as well as other Chinese industries.
The higher tariffs could come as soon as Tuesday, according to reports from Bloomberg News and Reuters, while the Wall Street Journal said the tariff rate on Chinese EVs is expected to roughly quadruple to 100% from 25%. There’s also an additional 2.5% duty for all automobiles imported into the U.S.
Besides EVs, the semiconductor, battery and solar sectors in China look set to face additional tariffs. The development comes after President Joe Bozo last month pushed for higher tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum.

"Everyone has to buy EVs"

"No, not like that!"

The government forces all the automakers to go down a certain path without doing much in funding to help the automakers who are clearly struggling financially because of it, but get mad when another government is properly funding it. If the US govt are going to force us to go down electrification, they don't have the right to cry when another country is doing it better than our half-assed funding and implementation.

Here's a thought. Don't fund any of this and let free market capitalism choose the winners and losers. It's what built America and it's what can save America if the communists will allow it. If other countries want to put their thumb on the scale then hit them with tariffs and use the money to pay down our debt. Now you kids get off my lawn!

EV owners say their cars are making them SICK - as driver claims her Tesla caused her nose bleeds, 'debilitating' body pains and hair loss

15 May 2024
There are growing reports of electric car drivers suffering motion sickness, dizziness and nausea from the vehicles' braking and acceleration systems.

And a former Tesla owner has claimed that she experienced nosebleeds, hair loss and 'debilitating' body pains while using the vehicle she purchased in 2021.

While she was not entirely sure the Tesla was at fault, the Georgia resident and said her symptoms disappeared after selling the car.

Tesla has been accused of being the 'worst offender' for causing motion sickness from its one-pedal throttle because they can be 'very jerky and really abrupt,' Ed Kim, president and chief analyst of AutoPacific told ABC News.

OK EV's cause hair loss? Sometimes you just need to understand that your customer base is a fry short of a happy meal?

The "ALL or NOTHING" gang is in trouble.

Volvo’s US EV Sales Crater 69% In Q1

May 14, 2024
Volvo has ambitious plans to transition to all-electric vehicles by 2030, aiming for EVs to make up half of its global sales by 2025. However, 2024 has proven to be an abysmal year for its electric models in the States, with sales plummeting by a whopping 69 percent through April.

In the first four months of 2024, the automaker sold just 1,298 EVs to American buyers versus 4,138 the same period last year. This figure stands in contrast to the simultaneous 55 percent increase in sales of its plug-in hybrid models, totaling 10,124 units, and a 15 percent rise in overall sales from 36,094 in Q1 2023 to 41,555 in Q1 2024.

In a completely unrelated story:
VW walks back BEV-or-bust strategy that annoyed rivals
May 16, 2024
In fact, the automaker is selling so many cars still running on combustion engines that it’s on track to overshoot its emissions allowance next year, leading chief executive officer Oliver Blume to ask European regulators for leniency. It’s a sharp turnabout from only three years ago, when VW’s aggressive lobbying for EVs in the European Union (EU) opened up rifts between the company and some of its peers in the region.

Wouldn't say hair loss myself, I do recall sitting in an Uber model S in Hong Kong from my dad's place to the airport (about 42km)
Both my wife and I felt sick after getting to the airport, she was preggo then so she feeling sick is understandable, but I never ever get car sick, it is literally the one time in my entire life I did.

Same thing happened to my friend's wife too until my friend turn down the regenerative braking on his model Y. He also lost his thousands of extra miles of range per year by recovering energy

In the end, either automakers will make vehicles that people want to buy, and at prices they're willing and able to pay for them, or the entire industry will collapse. Too many jobs and too much money for all players on the line, at which point rules will mysteriously get changed, delayed, or punted. Interesting times for sure.

I think the force of government will be dialed back on promoting EVs. The EV makes/market will find a middle ground and the whole thing will evolve and move forward in something more of a center path instead of either extreme.

A long time ago we had a hired van driver in an Asian country, and the guy just could not for his life figure out how to maintain a steady pace with steady throttle application. He was constantly on and off the gas literally non-stop, even in steady highway cruising conditions when there was no traffic to deal with. Everybody in my family got sick, including nearly myself, and I almost never get motion sick. I should have just told him to pull over and I would drive.
