Had the car for 2months now. There is a rattling noise coming from either the trunk or back seats anyone had any luck identifying the mystery creaking sound in their G20??
Update on rattle with a solution: Solution for center speaker rattle: Cause: frequency of 175Hz causes the plastic grate to vibrate. The sound is created due to lack of silencing material around plastic contact points Solution: remove grate add silencing material to cover contact points. Guide: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1652142

Ok. So I'm not crazy... occasionally I hear a creaking/squeaking noise, sounds like it's coming from the back. Also, when in sport+ I hear a vibration type sound in the front, near the console.

Only noise complaint I have is the cup holder... when my water bottle is in there it vibrates and makes a annoying quiet rattling noise.... a lot of different types of water bottles all of them make noise

I bought my wife a 2019 Lexus ES350 FSport. Started hearing an annoying rattle from what appeared to come from dash. Turns out it was driver visor. Slide visor mirror cover into open position, rattle gone. Just weird where those rattles actually are. Maddening for sure.

I don't know if it's the same thing that you guys are noticing, but check the passenger side seat belt buckle. Sometimes it coils and the metal rattles against the side of the interior when you accelerate.

It wasn't that...last time it happened, my girlfriend was sat beside me with the seat belt done up.

Potential Sources:
-Rear headrests -Rear cup holders -Cable that is attached to the roof of the trunk which allows seats to fold I plan on applying tape to all these locations. Will report back findings.

Noice can come from the trunk. Try to push on the trunk when it’s closed and listen if you do hear the noice. I Saw this in a review video.

My car is rattling in the back.. I was thinking it is the middle seat belt anchor. The belt might be rattling. That was my next thing to check...

But what you hear in the rear is the typical BMW shadowline trim and doors rubbing against it. Gummi Pfledge is your friend. I've had to use it on all my bimmers with shadowline trim. |

However, if you are in a bind and want a repair quickly, I used WD-40 dry lube (which you can pick up at any Pep Boys/AutoZone). I sprayed all the door sills and shadowline real good and all the rattles went away. Quiet as a vault now. |

Same situation, had the car about 3 months, definite creaking from the rear, not inside the cabin because rear seat passenger says it's behind them. Not the worst noise and with radio on I tune it out, but when I am in quiet mode can definitely hear it.

Mine started creaking and rattling from the rear, just one week after buying. Worsening day by day. Noise seemed to be coming from the heat shields plates which partitions the muffler/exhaust from the base of the trunk. 2 of the 3 heat shields were creaking with applying light pressure. After readjusting the position and tension of the plates, the noise have improved but still noticeable when going over bumps and on gravel roads.
Didn't expect a new Bimmer to sound like my old school bus. ![]() |

No noises for me....yet (currently at 500 miles). But shadowline trim was my first thought, as I had that issue with my F30 M-Sport.
