OK..let's open up the semantics...the various terms that are used in different surveys or metrics are:

Defects
Conditions
Issues

...leading to an overall assessment of quality and reliability. Dust under paint may require more time out of service to repair in a body shop repaint than replacing a gasket. The issue is to what degree does the car require additional attention for repair or remediation, from the front fascia to the rear, creating inconvenience/problems for the owner. This is the overall metric Consumer Reports addressed based on owner reports.

An out-of-box idea, namely, Tesla should sell its powertrain and battery efficient tech to others who are better than Tesla in building cars!

It does not make sense for Tesla to labor on areas that it is not equipped/experienced to tackle.

It doesn't matter what the issue is, a Tesla is going to take longer to repair because it's Tesla. It's established fact.

My point, is that a dust under paint is not equal to cracked cylinder head, defective airbag....etc. If you insist they are the same, well I hope you never get a bad airbag cause I have never met a person killed by dust under paint.

I fear this is becoming overly pedantic. However, to continue...they are as obviously as different as A and B. But, they are the same in that they are both members of a larger group, the alphabet in my analogy, or among the group of issues that takes the vehicle off the road and away from the owner for a period of repair time. If the car is gone from the owner's garage for repaint or for gasket replacement, the car has a defect that owners wish not to experience when they choose a new vehicle. The purpose of CR's data is to advise people about models with which they can expect a more hassle-free existence versus those leading to knowing your service advisor's phone number by heart, whatever the range of problems may be.

I drove the Tesla 3 and I loved it. However I am a longtime BMW 3 series fan and I love the new 330I even more. Also I like to lease and Tesla does not have a lease program for the 3. It was just too weird shopping the Tesla. There is no spare on the Tesla and they do not have runflats. I don’t want to wait for the road service truck to come out on a temporary tire that they supposedly will have.

I thought they were RFT. So these Michelins with acoustic foam inserts have no extended mobility? That's actually music to my ears cause I hate RFT.

Is that lower trunk section big enough for a space saver?

No. It's deep but short and not very wide. Ideal for 3-4 grocery bags but not a tire.

The Model 3 of a colleague's husband was broken into through the rear quad window, and the damage extended to the rear door window. The glass repair of both was $1000! The job had to be referred by Tesla.

My F30 had a broken front passenger window, and trusted body shop quoted $400 with factory glass, while a low cost shop using aftermarket glass quoted $150! A local CCRC quoted $600.

Tesla's official time for the Medium Range Model 3 RWD is 0-60 in 5.6s, which is similar to the 330i at a similar price.

https://3.tesla.com/model3/design

Real world tests have shown it to be even quicker:

Tesla will close most stores in next few months for another wave of layoffs.

So how do customers address delivery issues without support from store staff? Will customers need to examine and deny delivery at their driveways when the cars roll off the truck?

They don't deliver cars at the galleries, they are done at the delivery centers. The galleries are the ones being closed.

That was done to get people to see the cars at the mall. They don't need it cause Model 3 are everywhere.

So if we compare a 330i base (standard paint, wheels, sensatec) with Convenience, Premium, and PDC $46,395 (with dest)

to the 325 range Model 3 with premium interior and 5.0 0-60 for $44,200 (with dest)

I would still choose BMW as would most people reading this, but this better be a wake up call to BMW about the general population who aren't as interested or loyal. Even before the price cut, I sadly see model 3s everywhere.

That does look like the sweet spot: $2K for better audio, materials, heated seats, and some extra mileage and performance is a very good deal.

They can always pick them up at the nearest delivery tent.

That may be, but EVs are still impractical for most people. But yes you do make a very solid point.

That is true, the delivery centers should remain open.

And my guess is delivery priorities will be given to those who still have reservation numbers!
