Permanently turning off Lane Assist / Steering Intervention
How can I turn this off for good?
If I untick the functions, idrive tells me that the functions will be re-enabled when I restart the engine, which of course it does. Do I have to turn this off manually everytime I get in the car like you need to do with auto start/stop? |

Are you logged into your driver profile? If not, it will default to on each time.

It must be possible as I have mine disabled and it never re-enables by itself. I could do without the red circle of shame beaming at me all the time, but this is preferable to lane assist which I think is bordering on the dangerous.

I went into that section by pressing the button and configured the individual section but it keeps re-enabling on restart and the button is always lit green on restart but orange/red when I've configured it to off.

In the individual settings, I just turned off the steering intervention. I think you still get the slight steering rumble but it’s not really noticeable. Benefit of doing this is the light between the vents stays green.

Once that’s done, you just need to ensure Individual is selected by hitting the button between the vents. Once mine is setup like this, the config is retained and the light remains green. I didn’t like it being amber! Hope this works for you. |

Thanks for this. I do exactly the same and unfortunately everytime I restart the engine it reverts to default. There is even a message telling me on idrive that when I untick the steering intervention box, that this will be renabled on restart. Do you get this message? I am not sure why everyone else's seems to stay off but mine doesn't. It's bizarre. |

Interesting, I'd heard that was coming but didn't realise so soon!
Mine is a March 2020 build. I hope this doesn't kick in once I go to the 2020.07 code. Will have to look for the coding to disable. |

My car is also a March 2020 build and I have it configured in the way you described earlier in the thread; I'm not a fan of the steering intervention and wouldn't be happy if a software "upgrade" meant you couldn't turn it off permanently!

Permanently turning off Lane Assist / Steering Intervention
My car got updated to the July 2020 software as connected drive was playing up. My previous setting of turning lane assist off hasn't changed and stays off even after turning the car back on.

I'll have to get into the habit of turning it off manually whenever I get in the car. |

As someone else mentioned, I think new regulation changes are forcing it to come on by default whereas at the moment you can turn it off. Coding should be able to resolve it but definitely annoying (and dangerous IMO) |

I did this via the iDrive and it has remained amber since. I don't like it either. Too vicious for my liking. My instinct is to correct the steering when something like that happens and each time it made it worse. So I have turned it off.
