Some of that is likely driver though. I am constantly catching or keeping up with GT3s but I suspect they are not driving the car at anything past 6/10ths. Not saying the G80 AWD is not capable, it is definitely very potent but the same skill driver in both, the GT3 will be quite a bit quicker as can be seen from the recorded ring lap times.

I really, REALLY, wanted an F80. I test drove all manner of F8X for I think at least a year. Finally I was getting to the point where I needed to make a decision. I drove a 2016 F80, a C63, and a used 911 in the same day. I ended up setting my sights on a 911. I just could NOT gel with the F80's chassis or power delivery. It was so unsorted. That rear end just could not hook up for the life of it and did strange things on nasty bumps. I never drove a CS although I heard they were better.

I ended up with a 991.1 Carrera S, two Model 3's and a 997 Turbo S in the meantime and I think I really just prefer the way an automatic / turbo / awd combo feels. I know people are junkies for revs, and my 991 was a rev machine and while it was absolutely glorious on my drive across the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Tail of the Dragon, in day to day it was just...annoying.

Of course, the G8X is turbocharged in all forms so that eliminates the need to chase revs to make power. But I find that the turbo power band and the auto is just really sweet. They are dialed in. And not having to worry about traction at all when you just lay into it in traffic is just so nice. I loooooove just riding that wave of boost. The M3, especially the Performance, is otherworldy in how good the traction is on relatively skinny all season low rolling resistance tires. I mean, there is no second thought. You accelerate as fast as your right foot hits the floor, period. And while for a fun car the EV lacks emotion, the absolutely seamless delivery does have it's rewards, and is something I loved in my Turbo S.

So while RWD is definitely more playful, and not in the least unmanageable, even for inexperienced drivers, for me having more traction than power is addicting.

I do think the turbo engines do benefit from an auto/automated manual since they keep you in boost much better.
I love my 991.1 Carrera S. It's still a car that feels special and incredible how much more feel it has than BMW in the steering despite being their first iteration...and that they've only gotten better in the new cars and GT cars. I also prefer NA engines so this car with the classic silhouette and PTS, PCCB, and manual make it just an occasion to drive.
The EVs are fun too. We've got a Mustang Mach-E GT Performance and the 634 lb-ft really throws you back...plus the styling is on point IMO. I can see why people like the instant acceleration but it lacks beyond that in terms of sound, etc.

I think they tried to make it feel to hardcore but it just didnt work on anything but a smooth surface.
The G8x for me fixed the sound, and suspension and included a top notch interior in quality and design. I like the duality of being a very comfortable car when I want it but unleasing a very powerful and precise car when needed. It truly mimicks what and why the 992 turbo/S are easily some of the best dual purpose cars, but it's actually practical.
This is why I sold my F80 after six months. Hoping the G80 is better…

That’s because Comp comes with shadow line by default. You can delete shadow line on Comp or add it to Base model.

Precisely. The xdrive really does provide a different enough experience that it's worth it.
With Porsche, it really doesnt matter which transmission you choose - they are both top notch in the industry. The manual is near perfect, and the PDK is well...not much needs to be said here as nothing is as good. They dont make you choose between a transmission that feels like it was made for the car and one they've just been shoving into every car to make people happy - they're both the best you can get in any car.
The short ratios in the manual make it a bit annoying in some gears while the ZF8 uses the short gearing for unrelenting acceleration and using the paddles makes it enjoyable in a different way for me. I prefer to be two hands on a track and focused on driving rather than shifting. At the same time, I enjoy driving manual most any other time.

If you can't find a cpo xdrive comp in your price range it's unlikely if you bought new you would eat 20-30k depreciation in a year. But you seem like a deal guy instead of a get what you want guy and the best deals are on rwd only models for sure so that's probably the best route to get the most for your money. CPO is probably overrated though since you can buy a non CPO still with factory warranty, just check with BMW that a car still has warranty and not void from tune.

Winter will likely bring prices down some if you can wait.

That was all a bit confusing, or I need more coffee. Someone crashed their IOMG M3 in the PDX metro after owning it a week? Eep. I saw a brand new IOMG M3 with BMW Portland plate frames on it on 26 near Cornelius Pass a couple of weeks ago. First time my Frog has been near another Frog since I got mine in 2021.

Hope it wasn't that human..

I'm bias ofc, but I think the xdrive is worth it especially since you can technically go 2wd if you wanted to.

However, any G80/G82 M3/m4 is still a m3/m4 regardless of spec but I would gravitate towards the manual or the xdrive, not in between, personally.

Agreed.
The RWD comp makes no sense imo.

Here is an example, both optioned with the same pretty much, Buckets seat Kyalami Orange, etc. But 10k $$ and 9k miles diference.

Is the 10k worth it for the xdrive? mmmm

Updated.
I found a well balance xdrive one and pulled the trigger.
Here is my new to me 22 M3CX. Let the modifications start. Front Springs and Yellow DRL on.

What’s the spec? I was leaning towards a new m2 but the lack of xdrive has me leaning towards a used m3cx.

Looks great! Almost my twin but I wholeheartedly believe Frozen Dark Grey is probably the single best color for showing off the aggressive lines of the G80.

Is your car fully wrapped in stealth PPF?

Indeed one of the best color, not stealth, normal ppf.

Wait...how did you retain the satin finish if it's not stealth ppf?
