Carbon Bucket Seat Dimensions

Does anyone know of a website that has the carbon bucket seat dimensions (or can take some measurements inside of the bolsters and post them in here)? There are no new/used G80/G82s in a 4 hour radius of me to be able to actually sit in them and I’d really like to spec them if I know they won’t be miserable. 🤣

I assume that you have not previously had buckets as dimensions only tell part of the story, and not the most important part.

Reach out to a forum member for a test sit?

Never had them. Closest I’ve experienced are my current 2022 M3 standard seats. I’d love to try a test sit, but I’m fairly confident there are only 4 G80/G82s in my area from what I’ve seen and they all have the standard seats.

You should only get the buckets if you're serious about track days. Otherwise, the stock seats are pretty darn good.

I’ve never tracked any of my M3s but I’ll get the bucket seats every single time as long as they offer it.

They are incredibly comfortable, fit you like a glove (if you are the right size) and look phenomenal. Makes everyday driving a joy.

+1.

With that being said, as others have suggested, don’t go based off of dimensions. I’d recommend finding a car to test the fit and if you are willing to tolerate the different ingress/egress method needed for them. Check in the regional forums and see if anyone close by will let you sit in them.

Agreed with everyone else here, go find a member and sit in them, don’t worry about the dimensions because that’s not going to tell you anything. I did that before I hit 150 status and it was the best decision I made (to sit in them and order them).

Best seats ever. Be sure to get the buckets. They make the car so much more special. Very comfortable. Yes it takes a little more effort than standard seats but worth it. I never sat in a set before I picked mine up. I feel bad for anyone driving around without buckets.

The OP is being smart in wanting to try them out before ordering..

Great that you like them but the your comments are just silly. And yes, I’ve had buckets - in a GT4 and GT350.

How are the carbon buckets in comapirison to the Recaro buckets in the GT350? Genuinely curious as I have a GT350 and find the seats comfortable and not difficult to get in and out of for buckets. My M3 is inbound and I have never sat in them before. I had assumed the BMW buckets were a good deal more deep and bolstered.

No one that I’ve spoken with in person who has actually sat in them has said that they are incredibly comfortable. They actually said the opposite and that they would not want them for a daily driver, and this is after me saying I think I should have optioned them.

They disagreed and said, nope you did the right thing.

Granted, this has only been two separate people but… Very strange.

I like the way they look too.
They look great.

Standard seats are the best seats I’ve had in any car. They are supremely comfortable. Can’t wait to someday sit in these bucket seats just to see who is full of it.

I really have no idea.

carbon buckets are amazing, especially for a daily driver. so comfortable over long distances and the bolstering makes it more comfortable than my 330i sport seats

and they look amazing and are good on track it's really perfect. would not buy an m3 without carbon buckets

I don’t believe anybody that says the carbon buckets are incredibly comfortable. They range from not bad to uncomfortable. I have them in my car.

Sat in them in the showroom in another car…..did NOT think they were comfortable for a daily driver. Were they sculpted to hold one in well while tracking? Absolutely. Do they look really cool and save a few pounds? Yep. But if I was daily driving this, no way I’d option them…..especially with how good the standard seats are. And, when you add the issue of a wife or other passengers that have to get in and out of the seat, there’s even more reason. I know you can get covers for the edges….but the added wear on that outside bolster would bug me too.

I’ve only sat in the BMW buckets so limited time. But, similar to the GT350, the M3/M4 isn’t super low to the ground making getting in and out of the seat a bit easier than in a 911 or Cayman. The Recaros didn’t seem to be quite as deep. Both had very firm bolsters which limit movement - while I daily drove my GT350, it was just around town.

For the GT350, I would absolutely opt for the Recaros (for the type of car and that I didn’t care for the regular seats), but the for the M3/M4, unlikely as the sport seats are great and the buckets are too much of a compromise for what I consider cars on the short list for ultimate daily drivers.
