Does the engine feel the stress of a tune all the time? Or just went in WOT/Boost?

I'm no stranger to tuning, having tuned multiple of my cars over the years and this question over dawned on me. I'll try my best to explain it without sounding like an absolute knob but say there are 2 cars, both cruising on the highway at 8th gear 2.5k RPM 70mph (or whatever the cruising mph may be). Does the tuned car have more stress on its engine vs. the other car running stock factory tune? I'm just wondering if our cars feel stress all the time under tunes or only when building boost or going WOT, if that makes sense.

depends on the mapping at 2.5k rpm

did the tune disable certain protective parameters

did the tuner install a high flow oil filter that fails to filter certain metals

did the tuner install a high flow CAI that fails to filter certain dirt

did they modify the EGR/PCV in a detrimental fashion

there are so many things in the software and the hardware!

i think you are asking an impossible question

and the answer is it depends what your "tune" changed from stock and is the series of changes detrimental

g21 you're going too far in your mind for a simple question (say jokingly ), so the simple answer is that in normal driving you have no additional bosst and therefore identical, but with each strong acceleration you have the boost.

Just a simple OTS stage 2 tune for example.

This is what I thought to be the answer. Thank you.

most tuners claim their tune "improves MPG when cruising"

that suggests to me they have messed around with the mapping when not WOT

unless of course they are all lying, which is possible since most people tell me their mpg is worse even when cruising, but that's another story
