This entire experience has been torturous. We've been a one-car family since August. I haven't been without my own car since I was 16. At this rate, it will be nearly 6 months from order to delivery. This crap has aged me, and I'm already old.

M340ix - Worth the wait !!!

Springerdrive has nailed it by describing the long wait as "tortuous" !

It was for me made worse by the lack of communication between BMW and their dealers. Why did my my car spend an inexplicable six weeks sitting at the dock in Bremerhaven ? No one at my dealership could offer any answer. Many weeks later when my car was riding a CN Rail car across Canada, I learnt the reasons for my car's long time in "Quality Check" - two recalls for defects via the link:
https://bmw-recall-tool.netlify.app/

On December 17th, my 5 month long wait came to an end when I took delivery of my Alpine White M340ix. After only one week of driving my M340ix, I can report that it is simply the very best BMW that I have ever driven over the past 35 years !!

This car excels in every respect: from its exterior and interior styling to its exemplary handling ! The build quality of my M340ix is flawless ! The leather seats are very comfortable, the all round visibility is excellent, the ergonomics are flawless ! Thanks heavens my car came with the touch screen ! Not sure I would buy this car without the touch screen ?

For those of you still waiting, your patience will ultimately be rewarded. The M340ix is truly an exceptional sports sedan !

I have attached a photo of my car with its 18" winter wheel set:
M Style 796 with Bridgestone Bizzak RFTs. These BMW alloys are the only ones in 18" diameter that will fit over the larger front brakes that are part of the M Track package. Since snow is forecast for the next several days in Vancouver, I will soon find out how these tires perform in winter conditions.

I just checked my VIN in the BMW Recall Info tool & saw that my car has the "Retrofitting the receiver audio module" defect code in "open" status & yet it is sitting at the port waiting for a ship. Does anyone know if they retrofit the module at VPC or at Bremerhaven port before it leaves?

Mine shows that too, and is also at the port. I'm hoping it's just not accurate.

I hope I'm getting closer to delivery.
Was told it had shipped and since then the recall tool has closed all codes.
I assume its at least in the UK and possibly even at dealer.
SA planning for handover W/C 3rd Jan...been waiting since July.

From what I've read, it either gets taken care of at the factory or at VPC. I have no first hand knowledge though so I could be wrong!

Do you mind sharing what model you ordered and what codes you had?

I'm thinking about bailing on my order for one that is in stock at another dealership. Anybody have an opinion on how sh*tty it would be of me to do that? They'll just have to sell the car I ordered and the rep that I've been working with wouldn't get paid for their time, right? Nothing more than that?

I suspect a lot of folks are doing the same. I'd consider it as well, but I would not be able to repeat my deal with another dealer I fear....

Don't worry, they will definitely sell your incoming car...

Ordered my 2022 M440i Cab on June 30, 2021

Car was in production through August/September.

Received a message from the dealer on October 13 advising that car had shipped and was enroute to Halifax.

Received another message on November 13 advising that car was back at port in Germany. Apparently there was a "supplier issue with a batch of modules" so the car was returned to Germany for the part to be corrected before it ships from Germany (again!).

As of today, no indication that my car has shipped (again!) yet. I am assuming that when the replacement modules are received my car (and the others supposedly in the same situation) will have some sort of priority.

The good news is that it isn't convertible weather here at this time of year! Also no indication that any of the options I added were deleted.

Fingers crossed!

As an aside, there does not appear to be a single M440i cab in stock at any dealership in Canada (at least not according to online searches).

At the end of the day, you have to do what's right for you. If you feel that the other in-stock vehicle at a different dealership is the one you want, buy it & get your deposit back. Depending on how your ordered car is configured, I'd be surprised if it stays more than a few days on that dealer's lot.

Noon tomorrow I collect.
Was told about £200 refund for no charging tray but nothing else missing. I'll find out tomorrow I guess if touch screen is on it but according to Mdecoder I have the "S6UY ENTF. TOUCHFUNKTION CONTROL DISPLAY" code.
Then again that also says its left hand drive....

If no touchscreen, you should get about a US$500 credit as well. Be sure to ask about that.

Looks like my Mexico 330i finally went from "Final Assembly" to "Ready for Transport". Status 160 to 165. It was stuck in Final Assembly for 3-4 weeks.

The recall tool shows that the RAM module recall is still OPEN on my car, so not sure if this means it'll have another little vacation at the port still before it gets to the dealer.

Finally collected car.
Dealer thought it had touch screen but alas touching the screen does nothing.
Everything else seems perfect. The car is a beast (compared to my 420 anyway).
