Left wing mirror - won't unfold / no power - help!

Hey guys

Need some help please, so for whatever reason this morning my left wing mirror won't unfold, and I can't adjust the glass using the buttons inside. Appears to be completely dead. The indicator on the side of it works, and the 360 surround camera on it works. Just the unfold and adjustment of mirror

I've tried changing the 2 fuses can see are linked to the wing mirrors(67 and 68) but that's done nothing. My right wing mirror is working absolutely fine

Below is the error log from Bimmer Link and then the fuse assignments. If anyone knows of a different fuse I can have a go of, or any solution I'd be forever grateful. It's a bit of a wait to get the car into bmw due to lockdown in the UK

Plenty of similar threads on the forum. Looks like a trip to the dealer.

Yes, unfortunately its a design issue and they all seem to fail sooner or later. Needs a trip to the dealer to replace the electronic components in the mirror. Service guy told me he gets loads of G2X with this issue and should really be a recall.

Down at the dealer today thankfully, convinced them to pay for the taxis to/from in lieu of courtesy cars being stopped for time being.

Control module inside the housing rusted. Tad worrying the quality of that

3 days to fix. First replacement part also failed.

Got home, car sat overnight. Bloody drivers side failed now.

Hope these parts are upgraded to original ones. No faith it won't happen again out of warranty

When replacing mine I was told that the replacement part has a new part number. After 8 months, when it failed again, they said the same thing

Ohhh joy hah. Surprised it hasn't had a recall yet if its that unreliable. Was it the passenger side that failed on you or the drivers? From threads I've seen on here only seems to be passenger side usually. Odd one

I had similar issue. Turned out to be a software and hardware issue. Took to dealer to fix. Got I drive updated too. 11/2020.45. Turns out the mirror operation is integrated with surround cameras and sensors. Well that's how it was explained to me. Took 2 days, a warrant job!

Both, actually. First was the passengers, and the whole mirror unit was replaced under the warranty. Couple of weeks later the drivers side gave up, but in the meantime the repair procedure changed and only the failed module was replaced, and it failed once again.

But the second time the technician called me during the repair work and assured me that not only the part number is different, but the new module looks a bit different (revised). I guess we'll see.

Drivers side started working again today. Really odd. Still going to take it down, bimmerlink still shows errors for it. Might mention an idrive update too!
