I wouldn't say it's ugly per se, but it does looks somewhat plain.

I think the G20 looks very good in certain colors and I fully expect that to be the same for the G22. The E/F Series cars look boring and stale in certain colors too. The right color with the right wheels makes a difference.

One only needs to take a look at the Oxide Gray II G20 thread to see color and options really make a car look splendid.

E92 looks dated to me. E46 is timeless, but I think the F80 is better looking than the E92 (yes, it’s all subjective).

E90 is kind of weird, have to agree on that. But E92 by far the most classic look. E30 and E36 are both ugly, E46 is ok. F80 is nice too, as I have it. But lookswise E92 takes the cake easily.

G21 in Oxide Grey is a smart looking vehicle.

As to the E92... here's an example that I had for a day. To my eye, a pretty bland and dare I say, 'boring' looking example.

All about colour, specification and trim. Then that has ALWAYS been the case with BMW, for as long as I can remember... back to 1970. Yes, 1970.

Previously had two E90’s and an F30 but I really do think that my G20 M-Sport 330i in Portimao Blue is not only the best BMW I have owned but the best looking by far.
Not only that but the best looking in any car park of any size!

Hear hear... BMW G20 M-Sport 330i in Portimao Blue , best colour and in my opinion, the best 3 series shape ever made in 40 odd years , bar the proper M cars.
Now if they kept the front shape/design for the new M3, that would be the perfect "Daily Dream Performance Car" ... but unfortunately they did not....aargh so sad, now you will have to go and buy an Alpina.

I think for the E90 you have to differentiate between the original one and father facelifted LCI version. The original truly is the worst looking 3 series I can recall, and chose to keep my E46 330d over it. One the LCI came out I swapped over pretty much immediately.
Quite amazing what a new bonnet and rear lights could do to a car!

I must say I also think that my E90s as standard drove much better than my F30 cars did before modifying.

I fell out of love with my E92. I used to go on about how timeless it was when I had it for 8 years from new but it started to look long in the tooth to me. I went to a dealership bbq where salesmen are all over you... it's not about the food just pressure selling cars. I fell in love with the F32 and bought one. We already had the highest spec F30 (1 of 5) at the time but it didn't stop me. I think the G20 looks great but it depends on the choice of paint. The beaver grill new cars will always be ugly in my eyes. Different strokes for different folks.

I know thread is over a month old... IMO I think the G20 is one of if not the best so far (in M Sport guise only and in the right colour - Black, White and Blue are a bit boring)


The only previous one that caught my eye was the E30... other generations were bland
